    BPs safety policy states no harm to people and no accidents. Everyone who works for or on behalf of BPis responsible for their safety and the safety of those around them.

    he followin! safety rules will be strictly enforced to ensure the safety of our people and ourcommunities.

    BP"s senior leadership are a ccountable for communicatin!# trainin!# implementin!# and auditin! theserules to assure compliance and performance.

    $lthou!h embedded in each of these rules# it is important to emphasi%e that&

    Work will not be conducted without a pre-job risk assessment and a safety discussion appropriatefor the level of risk

    !ll persons will be trained and competent in the work they conduct

    Personal protection e"uipment will be worn as per risk assessment and minimum site re"uirements

    #mer$ency response plans% developed from a review of potential emer$ency scenarios% will be inplace before commencement of work

    #veryone has an obli$ation to stop work that is unsafe

    Permit to Work

    Before conductin$ work that involves confined space entry%

    work on ener$y systems% $round disturbance in locations

    where buried ha&ards may e'ist% or hot work in potentially

    e'plosive environments%a permit must be obtained that(

    defines scope of work

    identifies ha&ards and assesses risk

    establishes control measures to eliminate or

    miti$ate ha&ards

    links the work to other associated work permits or

    simultaneous operations

    is authori&ed by the responsible person)s*

    communicates above information to all involved in

    the work

    ensures ade"uate control over the return to normal

    operations

    Workin$ at +ei$hts

    a test is conducted to ensure the isolation is effective

    isolation effectiveness is periodically monitored

    4ehicle Safety

    4ehicles will not be operated unless(

    vehicle is inspected and confirmed to be in safe

    workin$ order

    drivers are trained and certified to operate the

    class of vehicle

    passen$er number does not e'ceed manufacturers

    desi$n specification for the vehicle

    seat belts are installed and worn by all occupants

    hand-held cell phones and radios are not in use by

    driver

    Ground 5isturbance

    Work that involves a manmade cut% cavity% trench or depression in

    the earths surface formed by earth removal cannot proceed

    unless(

    a ha&ard assessment of the work site is completed by

    the competent person)s*

    all under$round ha&ards% ie% pipelines% electric

    cables% etc% have been identified% located and if

    necessary% isolated

    Where persons are to enter an e' cavation(

    a confined space entry permit shall be issued if the

    entry meets the confined space definition

    $round movement is controlled and collapse is

    prevented by systematically shorin$% slopin$%

    benchin$% etc% as appropriate

    $round and environmental conditions are

    continuously monitored for chan$e

    6iftin$ 7perations

    6ifts utili&in$ cranes% hoists% or other mechanical liftin$ devices

    will not commence unless(

    an assessment of the lift has been completed and the

    lift method and e"uipment has been determined by a

    competent person)s*

    all other options have been ruled out

    permit is issued with authori&ation by a responsible

    all persons involved are competent to do the work

    all sources of ener$y affectin$ the space have been

    isolated

    testin$ of atmospheres is conducted% verified and

    repeated as often as defined by the risk assessment

    stand-by person is stationed

    unauthori&ed entry is prevented

    Work arisin$ from temporary and permanent chan$es to
