Maple Leaf Temporary Tattoos At minimal cost, you can dole these out to all of the neighbourhood kids and maybe even have a few left over for those who are kids at heart. The tattoos measure 1¼” in height and are supplied individually cut onto 1½” square pieces for ease of application. Each unit includes directions for use on reverse side and easily rubs off with baby oil or rubbing alcohol. They are sold in packages of 100.

Provincal/Canada Flag Patches Over the centuries flags have become a universal method of declaring our identity. Such a simple device carries a wealth of information about its bearer. Internationally, the Maple Leaf speaks of where we come from, but it also states what we stand for. Our Provincial flags carry the message of the strength and diversity of our confederation.

Flag patches are a convenient way to declare our identity when it is impractical to carry a flag. These Canadian made patches are treated with a heat-activated adhesive for easy attachment with an ordinary clothing iron. They can be used on garments, backpacks, tote bags, luggage, hats, just about anything made of fabric. If heat is not an option, they can be sewn on as well. The provincial flags and the Red Ensign patches come in a standard 2” x 4” size. Poppy Shopping Totes These 70% cotton, 30% poly durable canvas bags have been custom made for us to incorporate the beautiful Poppy motif created in-house by our own Karen Taylor. The larger variety is generously dimensioned with standard 13 ½” wide, 15” high, and 6” deep (34x 38x 15cm) measurements, and comes in either black or white. The smaller size is available with the original Poppy motif and white background, and measures at a humble size of 8” wide, 9” high, and 4” deep (20x 23x 10cm). The Poppy motif on each bag has been durably screened to allow for machine washing as required.

Black Soft Shell Jacket These jackets are made with durable soft-shell water resistant exterior fabric bound to their fleece interior lining. This fabric combines these elements with exceptional protection from the wind. They provide better insulation from the elements than

would be anticipated making them a preferred choice in the heart of spring and fall when the temperatures greatly fluctuate and can dip near freezing.

The jackets have a right center chest pocket, charcoal coloured back and front left “Legion” embroidery, and a right arm red embroidered Maple Leaf. They feature an interior unzipped and exterior side zipped pockets. These are well made jackets available in unisex sizes.

Leather Belt This belt is made from genuine Italian leather a full 1 ½” wide and 1/8” thick. The one-size-fits-all belt is 55” long fitting waists up to 50”. The belt is easily sized by cutting off the excess before you clamp on the secure buckle. The well made buckle is cast with our Legion Badge, then chrome plated, providing a nice contrast to the black leather.

Club Jacket These are the very best Canadian made club jackets. They are manufactured by Saxon Leather who has been producing quality leather clothing for over 65 years. Each jacket is made with premium Melton wool bodies and leather sleeves. Made for Canadian winters, having a nylon poly-quilt thermal lining, they close up snugly with both top and bottom snaps that compliment a heavy duty zipper. Both the inside left and exterior pockets are accented with durable leather trim that matches the cow hide leather sleeves. Sport Utility Vest You’ll find that this highly functional garment has lots of built in features. Joseph Brant fought alongside the Loyalists to prevent the spread of the revolution into what is now Canada. Four generations later, his great-great-grandson, Lt. Cameron Brant died in battle at Ypres. Down through the years, heroes such as Tecumseh, who died in 1813 at the battle of the Thames, George McLean, a veteran of the Boer War who was wounded in heroic action at Vimy Ridge, and Word War II and Korea Veteran Tommy Prince, recipient of the Military Medal and the Silver Star, exemplify the commitment to principles that are essential to the fabric of Canadian Society today. The Royal Canadian Legion is honoured to recognize the contributions of today’s Aboriginal Members of the Canadian Forces as well as their ancestors.

Commemorative Pin The Royal Canadian Legion has designed this commemorative pin to incorporate images of the Caribou emblem of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment, the Poppy as our symbol of Remembrance, and the Forget Me Not flower as a symbol of Remembrance to fallen soldiers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

ENGLISHVIMY 1917 - BIRTH OF A NATIONOn Easter Monday, April 9, 1917, 100,000 Canadian soldiers stormed and captured Vimy Ridge in France. It was one of the great victories of the First World War. Although the cost to Canada was high - 3,600 dead and more than 7,000 wounded - historians say this victory marked the birth of Canada as a nation. It was the first battle in which all units of the Canadian Army fought together, and their success was overwhelming. After the war the Canadian government determined the battle should always be remembered, and decided to build a monument at Vimy Ridge. Reaching 40 metres into the sky, the Vimy Memorial is made from 6,000 tons of white limestone. Resting on it are 20 figures that represent Canada’s soldiers and the principles they gave up their lives for.

Fused Glass Art One of the pleasures of developing Canadian made products for the Legion is working with skilled artists who create custom designs for us. This was certainly the case when developing these pieces of fusion glass art with Brent Harding of Catalone, Cape Breton NS. When meeting Brent for the first time he

immediately realized the potential of his artistic medium in producing these commemorative works.

Fusion Glass Art is created by meticulously setting glass into forms, then firing the entire piece to fuse the glass into one form. Glass containing different elements is used to vary colour, while different shapes and sizes are used to create depth and dimension. The effects are particularly stunning when the pieces are seen with the effects of natural light.

Brent has created an iconic design for us, the Vimy Memorial. Each hand crafted piece is one of a kind. Supplied boxed with a thin wire stand. Overall dimensions of the pieces are about 5” by 7”.

ENGLISHARMISTICE 1918The 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, was the beginning of the end of the Great War, the “War to End All Wars.” The following year, King George V declared 11 November to be Armistice Day—later to be known as Remembrance Day—a day to remember all those who had made the supreme sacrifice in service to their country. Subsequently it grew to become an annual tradition, increasing in significance after World War II. Today, more than 100 years later, we are reminded of the sacrifices that were made and are still being made, summed up in the Royal Canadian Legion’s enduring motto—Lest We Forget.

NATIONAL WAR MEMORIALThe National War Memorial stands as a timeless symbol of the sacrifice that so many have made in service to Canada.The memorial takes the form of a tall granite arch, on top of which stand huge bronze figures of Victory and Liberty. Marching through the arch are 22 figures representing all branches of the service in the First World War. Upon the faces of these figures the eager expression of hope replaces the lines of strife and death. They leave behind an unlimbered cannon and all it stands for.Unveiled by King George VI in the spring of 1939 to commemorate the unselfish response of Canadians in the First World War, the memorial has come to “symbolize the sacrifice of all Canadians who have served Canada in time of war in the cause of peace and freedom.”

Canada made a major contribution to the D-Day attack by taking responsibility for one of the five beachheads, known forever afterwards as Juno Beach. 14,000 Canadian troops by ship and 450 by parachute landed in the early hours of that fateful day, supported by the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force.Juno Beach represents the will of Canada as a nation to preserve and defend freedom and democracy, not only for ourselves but also for others saddled with the yoke of oppression. 1945 LIBERATION of the NETHERLANDSIn 1944 the Dutch people had suffered years of occupation. Canada would play a pivotal role in liberating the Netherlands. From September 1944 to April 1945 more than 7600 Canadian soldiers, sailors and airmen would be killed fighting for Dutch Liberation. Our Canadian Veterans are fondly remembered as “Liberators” having saved millions from oppression and starvation. ENGLISHVICTORY 1945Considering the profound impact that the events of the Second World War has had in shaping the modern era, it is little wonder that there was such great celebration in allied nations when victory over the axis powers was announced. After 6 years of devastating conflict, in all of the allied nations citizens and military personnel alike were all overjoyed at the prospect that victory was finally at hand. Time has passed but the memories have not faded. The Legion Supply Department is commemorating Victory Day with a collection of items marked with the distinctive victory “V” design. Since the end of the war in Europe occurred earlier in 1945 than in the Pacific region, there are several dates of major significance. The design commemorates all Victory Day dates worldwide.

Images of the great Sir Winston Churchill’s gesture of the two fingered “V” gave hope to millions who struggled with the conflict at home and abroad. Isolationism became a thing of the past, and governments began to realize that their actions from then on would have global implications. The introduction of nuclear weapons, the concept of “Cold War,” and the ideological struggle between capitalism and communism made the Korean War the first chapter in the modern era of conflict. At a time when the world was still weary of conflict from the Second World War, Canadians were once again called upon to answer the call of duty to defend a distant part of the Free World against oppression. The Korean Peninsula became the battleground for “The Forgotten War.” Today, the Royal Canadian Legion stands with the Veterans of the Korean War to remember those who fought there and those who gave their lives. Never forget- Freedom is not free.

THE TOMB of the UNKNOWN SOLDIER

The Royal Canadian Legion adopted as a Millennium Project the establishment of a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National War Memorial. This Legion led project saw the remains of the Unknown Soldier repatriated from France. Records of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission show that the soldier was a Canadian who died in France during the First World War. We do not know which battle he gave his life in, his age, the unit he fought with, or the date of his death.On May 25th, 2000, the Canadian Forces flew our Unknown Soldier home to Canada after a ceremony at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. Upon arrival, the casket carrying the remains of the Unknown Soldier was moved to the Hall of Honour in the Centre Block of our Parliament Buildings. His remains lay in state for three days so that Canadians could pay their respects.On May 28th, 2000 “A Canadian Soldier of the Great War – Known Unto God” was laid to rest in a specially designed sarcophagus. Of 117,000 Canadians who have made the ultimate sacrifice, almost 20,000 have no identifiable grave.Each year hundreds of thousands of Canadians continue to visit The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and pay their respects. Canadians have adopted new traditions, laying on the Tomb Maple Leaf Flags on Canada Day and Poppies at the conclusion of National Remembrance Ceremonies.

They endured 24 hrs of artillery and mortar fire, and aggressively withstood 15 hours of direct firefights against RPGs, 20mm cannon and machine guns. In the end, the soldiers imposed their will on both the Croatian and Serbian armies, created a buffer zone and enforced a ceasefire. For its steadfastness and professionalism under fire, the unit was awarded one of the first Commander–in-Chief Unit Commendations. Each brooch is made of rhinestones, which are actually eastern European crystals, set on a casting formed in the shape of our badge. Challenge Coin Challenge coins have a long history with various cited origins. Beyond their traditional use for challenges they have gained in popularity as rewards for outstanding performance or service. The challenge, no pun intended, for Legion branches and members is acquiring coins at a reasonable cost when large numbers of them are not required. Set up costs and minimums are often prohibitive when only ordering dozens or hundreds. Here we hope to have solved that problem.

Polymer Clay Jewelry Polymer clay is increasingly used to make hand sculpted jewelry as it affords the artist almost limitless contour options while providing a medium that has deep lifelike colour. Although maintaining some necessary consistency, each piece is in fact one of a kind, something that is rare with today’s focus on high volume manufacturing. It has been a pleasure to work with the artist, Jane Penner of Rockwood Ontario, on the design of these pieces. Worthy of mention, Rockwood is just a few kilometers from Guelph, the birthplace of John McCrae.

Jane forms each component by hand, then heats the shapes to maintain their form. The end product has a soft luxurious texture that even retains a small amount of flexibility. Each piece comes individually packaged in custom boxes suitable for presentation or gift giving. Glass Jewellery Our glass Poppy jewellery utilizes this traditional medium to beautifully display the Poppy. The technique used in making this jewellery, Lampwork, is an art form thousands of years old that has hardly altered since conception. Each colour you see is a different rod of glass heated to a molten state and formed into its final shape. The completed product is an eye-catching work of passion with vibrant colour. Grace Edwards takes her love for creation, and constructs each of these beautiful Canadian made pieces of jewellery by hand, so each is unique with minor variations.

Working with Grace, we have produced two styles of glass Poppy jewellery: one a simple pin backed with a non-allergenic 2” steel post, the other a brooch, which can be fastened with a standard clasp. Rather than trying to pick from the field available, we created a design, made a list of features, and gave it to several manufacturers to make for us. One of them came through for us. Here’s what we came up with:

Silk Poppy Arrangement During the Remembrance period, and throughout the year, it is traditional to display Poppy arrangements. What is surprising is how few arrangements resemble the actual Papaver rhoeas (or Flanders Poppy). It took the manufacturer of these arrangements a full 8 attempts before we were satisfied that the silk Poppies were a close enough match to the Papaver rhoeas. Additional authenticity is provided by added greenery that is common in the wild. This arrangement comes completely assembled in the 7” ceramic white vase, Poppies and greenery mounted in floral foam covered with imitation sphagnum moss.


Fused Glass Art One of the pleasures of developing Canadian made products for the legion is working with skilled artists who create custom designs for us. This was certainly the case when developing these pieces of fusion glass art with Brent Harding of Catalone, Cape Breton NS. When meeting Brent for the first time he immediately realized the potential of his artistic medium in producing these commemorative works.

Fusion Glass Art is created by meticulously setting glass into forms, then firing the entire piece to fuse the glass into one form. Glass containing different elements is used to vary colour, while different shapes and sizes are used to create depth and dimension. The effects are particularly stunning when the pieces are seen with the effects of natural light.

Brent has created two iconic designs for us, the Vimy Memorial and a Field of Poppies scene. Each hand crafted piece is one of a kind. Supplied boxed with a thin wire stand. Overall dimensions of the pieces are about 5” by 7”.

Poppy Seed Packet Papaver rhoeas (Corn Poppy) A blanket of red poppies covering a battlefield is the most essential image of Remembrance. Battlefield or no, wherever they grow today, poppies are seen as a reminder of fallen heroes. Glass Christmas Ornament A nice part of offering this Legion Christmas ornament was learning just how glass balls are made. The Badge on this 3” diameter glass ball was hand-painted then reproduced onto flat sheets of glass. The flat sheets are then formed into spheres and the eyelet is added. These balls are supplied in a heavy material covered fibre board box that is suitable for storing the ball until next year.


Poppy Throw This custom made throw incorporates the Poppy motif designed by our own Karen Taylor. Intentionally made a little larger than a typical throw, it measures 58” x 68”. Composed of a 70-30 Cotton poly blend, the throw is machine washable, and hung dry. The motif is woven into the fabric, a nice feature over less expensive printed versions. While suitable as a gift or a nice accent for your home, you may just want one for the comfort they provide.


5.5” Diameter Poppy Suncatcher Each of these works of art incorporates a custom design produced just for us. Made by Gray Art Glass of Merrickville ON, slight variations will occur as each 5.5” diameter sphere is custom blown using colour to highlight features of the Poppies. While location will only be limited by imagination, they are particularly stunning when displayed in front of a window where light will draw your attention to the Poppy stems that rise from the bottom of the sphere. Greeting Cards This line of greeting cards has been produced in-house by The Royal Canadian Legion. We created these images using authentic WWI uniforms supplied courtesy of Canada’s War Museum. These are economical because they have been produced in-house with the printing arranged locally. Sold in sets of 10 or a sample pack, 2 of each, these cards are priced quite affordably when compared to the $5 and up charged by others for a single card. The cards have been printed on brilliant white 80 lb card stock and are supplied complete with envelopes. Another nice touch is the fact that the interior of the cards has been left blank. We thought you, like us, would prefer to include a personal note rather than an impersonal statement written by someone else. Rosewood Pen and Pencil Set How often are we at a loss when faced with the need to buy a presentation gift? These rosewood products have been selected to fill that need, although you may just want to buy a set for yourself. The pen and pencil set comes complete with a rosewood case for storing them when not in use. The pen and pencil are laser engraved with “ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION” while the case is laser engraved with our badge. Both the pen and pencil take standard refills.


Escape Map, Reproduction For almost 10 years we worked with no less than six manufacturers, trying to reproduce these Second World War Escape Maps in a manner consistent with the originals and in a quality fitting to the incredible ingenuity they demonstrate.

Cloth escape maps were the brain child of Christopher Hutton, an Englishman hired by MI-9, British Intelligence Service Section 9. Hutton was responsible for designing maps for use by those evading the enemy and escaping capture. By the end of The Second World War it is estimated that more than 35,000 Allied POWs escaped from German prison camps.

Silk, often rejected during parachute manufacturing, and Rayon were used to make the escape maps as these materials could withstand the elements, were quiet when being opened to read, and compact enough that they could be concealed. Maps were used as scarves, sewn into jackets linings, hidden in uniforms, playing cards, and Monopoly® games. The board game proved particularly useful once inside prison camps. Years later it would be disclosed that the games were also used to conceal a compass, file, even local currency.

The use of cloth escape maps expanded with more than 3.5 million produced for allied theatres of action. The maps we chose to reproduce are identified as 43/C and 43/D. The original was provided with thanks to the Canadian War Museum, George Metcalf Archival Collection. A satin matte finish has been used on a manmade fiber selected to imitate the original. The map is in a 1:1,000,000 scale with a single 1:250,000 insert. The areas covered are Holland, Belgium, France, Germany and Switzerland. Printed in full colour on both sides the maps provided critical information to escapees. Each reproduction is identified as such on the lower right-hand border of side 43/D to ensure these reproduction cannot be confused with the originals. Size 28.5" x 28.5".

Poppy Drop Projector Commencing in 2016 The Royal Canadian Legion began projecting falling Poppies onto the Parliament buildings throughout the Remembrance period, from the last Friday in October until November 11th. This display of Remembrance has viewed by tens of thousands in person, and hundreds of thousands through social media. With this in mind, we set out to custom make a projection system that would allow homes, Legion branches, schools and businesses to display their own Poppy Drop.

Our challenge was to source a projector that would respectfully display Poppies falling. This system was stress tested during the winter of 2017/18, one that offered every conceivable effect of a traditional Canadian winter.

Lawn Sign A fantastic and respectful way to display a message of Remembrance for all to see. With regularity we have been asked for digital artwork so that an urn may be produced for a deceased member. Memorial Markers Headstone markers are available with the Legion Badge, for Legion Members, or the Poppy, for Veterans. Overall dimensions of the Legion Badge casting are 4½” high by 27⁄8” wide. Overall the Poppy casting measures 3¾” high by 3½” wide. Both castings have an integral tab cast into the marker for fixing to a headstone. The markers can be permanently fixed to a headstone by drilling a ¾” bore hole (5⁄8” deep), filling the hole with epoxy, and inserting the cast tab. We suggest that a professional perform this after consultation with the cemetery and headstone manufacturer. If you do not wish to bore a hole in the headstone, the tab may be cut or ground off and silicone or other permanent adhesive may be used.

Tribute Ceremony Candle In recent years there has been a type of ceremony that has been growing in popularity in some regions of the country. This service, called Candlelight Tribute Ceremony, was started in the Netherlands in 1995 when Dutch children placed lighted candles on the graves of Canadian Soldiers, leaving them burning overnight in silent tribute to the fallen. Since that time, these tributes have spread across Europe, and were introduced into certain areas of Canada.

The Supply Department has selected a candle light that is specifically for this purpose. The simple yet elegant design of these candles features a 100% pure refined paraffin candle, contained in a durable translucent red plastic shell with a flame-proof, weather resistant metal cap. Here are the required steps to shape a beret:

1. Start by cutting out the lining of the beret to reduce bulk and ease shaping. If you are not shaping the beret it is better to leave the liner in.

2. Form fit the beret. Soaking the beret before donning it will help stretch the wool and form it to the wearer’s head. Most of the beret’s material should be pulled down so it drapes over the right ear. The cardboard stiffener should be centered over the wearer’s left eye so the headband is about two finger-widths above the eyebrow. Pinch the cardboard stiffener so that the wool dips down behind it. Tie the two laces in the back in a non-slip knot for a snug fit, then cut off the ends of the ties.

3. Dry the beret – by just wearing it until it dries.

The beret is worn with the band one inch above the eyebrows, the beret crest over the left eye, the beret pulled back and smoothed to the right side.

Buttons These buttons are available so that you may purchase a blazer at your location of choice. All of the buttons are made of brass but have more of a polished gold finish. Both the small and large buttons are stamped with the badge of the Legion or Ladies’ Auxiliary. The number of buttons you’ll need is determined by the particular blazer that you have. Large buttons are for the front of the blazer and small buttons are for the sleeves.

Lapel Pin Badges Lapel Pin Badges are part of official Legion Dress. Only one may be worn, and is placed on the left lapel. Regulations regarding the use and wearing of lapel pin badges can be found in the Ritual, Awards and Protocol Manual.

HONOURS AND AWARDS: Branches, Zones, Districts and Commands of The Royal Canadian Legion have established a time-honoured system for showing appreciation to those members who dedicate their time in service to the branch by serving as elected or appointed officers. Such members are awarded medals and ribbon bars that signify positions held. There are also awards for outstanding service beyond the call of duty. These awards cannot be bought by the member; instead, they are bestowed on the member by their branch or command. For detailed information on the awards found listed here, please consult the Ritual, Awards and Protocol Manual.

The Royal Canadian Legion has a proud tradition of service to Veterans and their families, and to the communities in which they live. Legion Branches and Commands across the country recognize the service that Legion Members provide through a system of Honours and Awards. The most visible of these are medals and bars worn on the Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary Uniforms or equivalent civilian dress. There are Medals for Past Service to a Branch or Ladies' Auxiliary and bars which are sewn onto the medal ribbons, indicating leadership positions held and committee or other service. And there are Medals for outstanding service, beyond the expectations of the duties of an elected or appointed office. Tote Binder for Medals This medal, ribbon, and award organizer serves to prolong the appearance and life of awards by protecting them. They can also reduce the wear on expensive uniform clothing. In Flanders Fields” Framed Reproduction In the spring of 2014 famed Canadian sports artist Rob MacDougall found himself in France refurbishing artillery guns exposed to the elements since June of 1944. When the opportunity presented itself Rob was off to the Canadian Military Cemetery in Groesbeek Holland. Rob was intent on visiting the final resting site of family friend George MacDonald of Donkin NS. George had made the ultimate sacrifice during the battle of Nijmegen on February 19th, 1945. Like Rob, George was an artist, and the site of his gravesite stirred emotion. After laying Poppies at the site Rob made his way to Ypres, Passchendaele and Vimy. Further motivated by the location where John McCrae penned In Flanders Fields Rob returned to Canada intent on producing a tribute to the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by so many Canadians.

Here Rob has created an exceptional reproduction of In Flanders Fields. The poem itself is embossed into the finest cotton paper in a metallic gold rustic finish. With exterior wood frame dimensions of 13” by 23” each reproduction includes matting shaped to match the graves stones he witnessed. Each becomes a one of a kind piece as real wax preserved and hand painted Maples Leaves are embedded into the matting. Hand rendered banners, consistent with the poems era are strategically printed on to the matting along with the artists painting of John McCrae. Each glass faced reproduction comes securely package to ensure safe arrival of these beautiful pieces.

Branch Service Awards

Branch Service Medals Dominion Convention 2010 authorized the creation of Branch and L.A. Service Medals for members of the Branch and of Ladies' Auxiliaries to the Branch to recognize the significant volunteer and service work accomplished by members of your Branch, outside of or prior to their acceptance of leadership positions. The authorizing/approving authority is designated as the Branch Executive Committee (in the case of the Branch Service Medal) or L.A. Executive Committee (in the case of the L.A. Service Medal) and/or respective General Membership Meeting. Qualifying criteria are the responsibility of the branch or L.A. Qualification for the Service Medal should be a significant level of service provided by the member to their Branch/L.A. Jumbo Remarkable Cheque This Jumbo Re-markable Cheque wasn’t on our radar at all until one of our branches suggested it. The need for this item arises from the fact that a wealth of charitable donations are made by you, the Branches of the Royal Canadian Legion. While we cannot ship out large flat cheques, we can produce the remarkable portion of the cheque that would not be economical for you to have made. These reusable templates are 36” wide by 16” high. You will receive these templates rolled up with the intention that you will locally obtain foam core or Coroplast to mount them on. This can be done with any contact cement or adhesive. The cheques can then be reused like any white board or remarkable material.

Coasters with Legion Logo If you have tried to obtain custom made coasters you probably soon realized that they are prohibitively expensive to buy in small quantities. Only when tens of thousands are ordered does the cost become reasonable. These packs of 100 coasters are custom made for The Royal Canadian Legion with our Logo nicely displayed in the centre. We ordered enough to make them economical. Therefore, it is affordable to place a “Legion” coaster under the glass of a member. Though these 3½” coasters, made with an extra heavy 40 point stock, are not defined as reusable, they certainly are thick enough that they can be reused until they start to show wear. We specifically ordered these coasters with a black background in a heavier weight to allow them to be reused. Although intended primarily for Branches, members may also obtain these coasters for use at home.

Chaplain’s Stole Legion Chaplains provide countless hours of volunteer service to branches and commands. It was suggested that a stole be made for wear by a Chaplain performing this critical role in The Royal Canadian Legion. Long White Leather FlagCarrier with Pouch There are plenty of cheaper slings available, but they cannot compare in value with this product. It is made from white leather, heavier than belt weight, constructed with heavy duty stitching and rivets. Lesser products will wear out in a couple of years. This one will last decades.

Vinyl Gauntlets White gloves are always susceptible to getting stained when handling a flag and pike on parade. They are also less than comfortable in inclement weather. These vinyl gauntlets can be wiped clean, and are weather resistant. They are unlined, so they can be worn in warm weather, but also can be worn over another glove for warmth in winter.

Arm Band These are blue and gold cloth armbands with an elastic panel on the inside of the arm, so that they will fit over the sleeve in both winter and summer. Worn on the left upper arm.

Sgt-at-Arms Sashes Sgt-at-Arms sashes are another item where we felt we could do better in terms of value. These sashes are virtually identical to the ones we have been offering for years except that the Legion and Ladies' Auxiliary badges are embroidered instead of the mounted plastic badges. We happen to think the embroidered badges are preferable and at half the price we are certain you’ll find these do in fact represent much better value. The Legion sashes are available in three sizes while the Ladies' Auxiliary is available in the smaller two sizes. What we describe as Short, Medium, and Tall has internal circumferences of 49” (short), 61” (medium), and 69” (tall). If you are uncertain about size you may use a cut piece of rope or fabric measuring tape to determine which size is most appropriate. What we now describe as medium is the size of the sash we previously offered.

M.L. Stands To complement Legion Supply’s growth as a full line flag supplier, two stands are offered. The hefty premier stand weighs in excess of 5 lbs. The premier stand is constructed with a collar to fit a 1¼” diameter pike but includes a piece of plastic tubing allowing it to be used with 1” diameter pikes. The economical folding stand uses four extending rods for stability rather than weight. The folding stand will only accept pikes up to 1” in diameter. Intended for indoor use only.

Flag Pikes Pikes are available in a full range. The 1¼” diameter oak pike will not fit into the economy stand or angled wall bracket. All pikes are the standard 8’ in height. The wood pikes thread together where the aluminum pikes contain an internal spring clip to hold them together. Pike tops, flags, and stands must be ordered separately. All pikes are supplied with the required “C” clips to hold the flag in place. Wood pikes are supplied with only one “C” clip as this is all that is required. All metal pikes are shipped with the required and installed wood plug necessary to mount all pike tops.

There are several components to a complete flag unit. There is the obvious flag, pike, pike top and stand. Offering sets including all of these components only results in forcing you to settle for something that is close to what you really wanted. This is why we distribute all flag components separately. All components are compatible with a few exceptions. The acorn tops will not fit on the wood pikes and the 1¼” wood pikes will not fit in the economy stands or angled wall bracket. Aside from these exceptions, the balance of tops will fit on any of the pikes.

Flag Pike Tops All of these flag pike tops fit all pikes with the exception of the economical plastic acorn top not being compatible with the wood pikes. This plastic top will also require you to remove the wood plug from the pike (only 1 screw). All pike tops are supplied with the necessary mounting screws. Grommet Clip Over the last few decades the use of flags with grommets has replaced almost all with rope and toggle. Grommet clips are required to attach flags with grommets to the halyard (hoisting rope) on flagpoles. These clips are sold individually. Flag Fringe From an inventory management perspective it is impractical for us to offer all provincial flags with fringe. For this reason we are now offering the exact fringe used on our flags. This fringe is sold by the yard and will be provided to you uncut in one continuous length. Fringe is typically used on a sleeved flag although there is no reason it cannot be used on a flag with grommets. Fringe is used only on three sides so 15 feet is required for all 6’ x 3’ flags.
