A HISTORY OF CAMPUS MARKETING SUCCESS
HTC VIVE PRE COLLEGE TOUR GOALS
• Objective #1: Demonstrate the HTC Vive to college students across the country
• Objective #2: Assist in expanding brand awareness of HTC and the Vive to the collegiate marketplace
• Objective #3: Grow student engagement with HTC Vive on social media
WHAT IS THE VIVE? • The Vive is a Virtual Reality (VR) system being developed in
partnership between Valve and HTC• HTC manufactures some of the finest consumer electronics on the
planet and Valve is the creator of ground-breaking games such as Portal and Half-Life, and the leading online platform for games, Steam
• The HTC Vive headset, powered by SteamVR, is the first of its kind that enables “360-degree room-scale VR”—which allows you to walk around and explore the virtual world
• It features the first wireless controllers designed specifically for VR interaction

HTC + VALVE = VIVE PRE• HTC is the hardware, Valve Steam is the software• The demo runs on Windows 7 PCs• Demo kits include: developers edition headset, two
controllers, two light base stations, cables• Demos provide a platform for total immersion into the
virtual reality experience • Demo reservations are available for students and staff
on a first come, first serve basis
HTC BRAND AMBASSADORExpectations, marketing tactics, event support, post-event
BRAND AMBASSADOR EXPECTATIONS
• Dedicate 6-8 hours per week before the event promoting the HTC Vive and the campus tour
• Dedicate 8 hours or more to event execution the week of the tour stop (Neely will confirm work schedule)
• Communicate regularly with AroundCampus Campaign Manager and Tour Managers– Prompt replies to emails and phone calls– Team effort
EXPECTATIONS, CONT.
• Participate in on-site training the day before the event begins – Location and time will be sent out by Neely Droessler
PRE-EVENT MARKETING
Two weeks out:• Join your campus event on Facebook & invite
friends• Promote on social media using provided collateral• Flier campus (flier design provided)• Pass out ¼ page handouts• Email relevant student organizations to promote
the event (list will be sent, additional outreach encouraged)
PRE-EVENT MARKETING CONT.• Make announcements in your student
organization meetings, classes, etc. about the event
• Invite campus influencers/VIPs to demo – newspaper editors, athletes, mascot, etc.– Email Neely to schedule
• Any other relevant promotional opportunities– Email Rebecca for approval if marketing has a
cost associated
PRE-EVENT MARKETING CONT.
One week out:• Continue promoting on social media
– begin countdown posts 5 days out (images provided)
• Flier campus again• Chalk campus• Follow up on VIP outreach• If applicable, hand out giveaways in high traffic areas of campus
EVENT WEEK MARKETING• Participate in on-site training session
– Tour managers will facilitate for brand ambassadors and tech ambassadors. Neely will email location, day and time details.
• Post yard signs and other event signage around campus in high traffic areas (provided by AC)
• Continue posting to social media – call to action: demo on campus this week and follow HTC on Twitter and Facebook
EVENT WEEK MARKETING CONT.
• At the event, encourage students to follow HTC Vive on social media– Offer to take a photo for a student while
they’re demoing– Take photos of the event for your socialmedia posts
POST-EVENT MARKETING
• Goal: continue the buzz on campus about the Vive– Post articles and announcements about the
Vive to social– Post event photos, videos to social media
• Tag students you know, encourage sharing
ADDITIONAL DETAILSPR, sign up process, reporting work completed, social media
PUBLIC RELATIONS • AroundCampus brand ambassadors are not considered
employees or representatives of HTC or Valve • You may not partake in interviews with press• Any questions you do answer need to come directly from
the HTC Q&A sheet with clear communication that you’re not to be quoted
• If you’re asked a question that is not on the Q&A sheet, write down his or her information and give it to Neely or Joe—tell the participant we’ll get back to them
• The Vive is a direct competitor of Oculus Rift, but we do not comment on competitors products
WORK AND TIME REPORTING• AroundCampus utilizes Basecamp project
management tool– Upload proof of work completed (photos, videos, screen
shots) to project– Access to files for fliers, social media collateral, etc.
• Self-report hours worked– Pay schedule is bi-weekly, direct deposit– Submit all hours worked each week by Sunday night– Instructions and link in Basecamp– Event week hours should also be self-reported
• Check in with Neely when arriving for your shift
DEMO SIGNUP PROCESS • Reservations are scheduled for 20min and
are taken first-come-first-serve daily
• Tell groups, professors, VIPs and any others to email Neely Droessler at [email protected] with questions about reserving a demo slot
• UT Austin details: – Location: AT&T Executive Education and
Conference Center, Classroom 107– Date: Mon. Jan. 25 – Fri. Jan. 29– Hours: 9 AM sign-ups open, 8 PM demos end
• Walk-ups to the event are welcome
• Parties of 2+ can go back-to-back in the same demo room
