This article says that men will find lumps, usually hard to move, and if the cancer is more aggressive then the skin on top of the lump will be irritated. This site was helpful because it gave me new and interesting information about cancer. It is also helpful because it tells the reader what to do if they do find a lump. The article says that the reader should see a physician, so that they can tell whether or not it is cancerous and find out if they have a history with cancer. For instance, the recovery process is different for everyone who has breast cancer, or any other type of cancer for that matter. There are different types of emotions that can occur after such as: anxiety, fear, insecurity, depression, uncertainty, embarrassment, guilt, anger and more. The article goes into further detail about the recovery process and follow-up care. This article is helpful because it gives me new information that I don’t already have, and need for my project. This article is credible because it is written by people who understand the after affects of cancer. These people being doctors and/or therapists. Having such credible people writing this article makes it a better source to use.

This web page is very helpful in finding information on breast cancer and details about it. The print outs show statistics about the disease and show the chance of getting it, and the amount of survivors. This web page also lists risk factors that make it more likely for a person to get breast cancer or get symptoms of it. Some of the risk factors include: “age is the most important (after gender). The older a women, the greater her chances of developing the disease.” The page also gives risk reductions. All in all, this is a very helpful resource. I know that it is a credible site because it is from Health Professionals who know about the disease and have been working with it.

Most men don’t get regular screenings because they don’t believe that they can get breasts cancer. Lucky for them it is extremely easy to detect breast cancer; unfortunately it is a more aggressive form of the cancer. For example a false negative can be given because of the fatty tissue, and high breast density. Dense parts of tissue and tumors both appear white on mammograms. This article was extremely helpful for my project and understanding the different types of surgery and what they mean and do to/for the cancer. Some of the types of surgery are “breast-conserving” meaning that the doctors are trying to save the breast and not just remove the entire thing. While Total mastectomy is when the doctors remove the entire breast, along with the cancerous cells or tumors. There are other types of surgery like this such as modified radical mastectomy and radical mastectomy. There are also surgeries that only remove a portion of the breast, this is called: Partial mastectomy. This article is helpful because it gives me more information, and goes in depth about the surgery and what each type means. I know that this article is credible because it is written by doctors and those who are very familiar with the disease. Another reason that the source is credible is that it is written by/for the National Cancer Institute.
