1910Second branch opened in 1911 at Redhill.

1920Introduction of first motorised delivery vehicle. Tunbridge Wells branch opened in 1924. 1925 saw the firm become a private limited company, C. Brewer & Sons Ltd. and the name Albany was first used on wallpaper pattern books.

1930Horsham branch opened in 1931, followed by Bexhill four years later. The 1930s saw the introduction of builders’ materials to the Brewers range.

1940The first London branch was opened at Thornton Heath in 1944, which was shortly joined by Beckenham, Bromley, Croydon and Dartford.

1950The 1950s saw new branches in Chatham, Surbiton and Crawley. The Festival of Britain helped inspire the DIY revolution and Brewers reached the half century mark.

1960The expansion continued with the addition of a further eight branches, including Brewers wholesale in Croydon to supply retail shops.

19701973 saw the introduction of the DIY multiples to the market and Brewers increased in size with another 20 branches. In 1977, the Albany name developed further - into Brewers own paint range.

1980Here started the rise of the self-employed decorator and the introduction of computerised tinting, with the first ICI

tinting machine in the UK going into Brewers at Putney in 1987.

1990After coming out the other side of the recession, Brewers took on a new corporate image in 1992, many more branches were added to the network including six trading as Cane Adam and the Protective Coatings division began.

2000The introduction of Spraystore and many new branch acquisitions, in particular across the Midlands area.
