To achieve my aesthec, social, and ecological goals, in my design, I sought to create spaces along the exterior of the Cornelius building where natural features would grow. These “natural pocket” spaces would allow the patrons within to have natural gathering spaces where they could escape from the office and enjoy natural view rather then skyscrapers of downtown Portland.

TTo break the barriers further of the natural and built world, these spaces would feature mechanical louvered glass walls. Having these walls on the exterior of the building, including the previous underused lightwell, these walls would open and shut via sensors and allow natural air to pass through the building and cool the spaces as well as give natural venlaon and more sunlight within. Allowing natural elements to light and venlate the building would lower costs to heat, cool, and the consumpon of electricity within the building.
