Advanced UI Scenario

(Performance Based Mockup Site)• The story is about a mature individual who is

experienced with social media services and is interested to try the free service where he can find stories by his family and create ones of his own to share with them.

These interactions include:• Browsing stories from the service. Finding specific

stories from the service.• Content creation in the form of memories and stories.

Elements• Setting: The person, their computer in his home.• Agent: Individual who is experienced with other web-based social media

services and their functions.• Goals:

– Easily access stories shared by other family members.– Browse for interesting content in the service. – Search for particular content while creating and sharing his own content. – Communicate and connect with family members through the use of stories.– Learn about family history.

• Tasks: Find stories of interest easily and quickly while easily being able to create content.

• Plot: Individual browses for content the service recommends to him and searches family vacation stories. User creates his own content using built in functionality of the site.

their family members through the use of stories and to learn about his family history.

• It provides the user with a browsing platform where the system automatically suggests interesting content.

• The story is about an individual who is computer literate, enjoys watching documentaries and videos on YouTube, but hasn't found a simple and secure way to share stories of his own.

The user's interactions include:• Telling a story through text and video, then storing and

sharing it with family members and/or others. Browsing other users' memories.

Elements• Setting: The person, recently retired, on their computer at home, far

away from grandchildren who live abroad.• Agent: Individual who is computer literate (and has used email at

work since the 90s and lately to connect with his grandchildren), but is not excited about learning new services. Email doesn't work because cannot type long text (because of arthritis and eyes that tire quickly).

• Goals: Telling a story through text and video, then storing and sharing it with family members and/or others.

• Tasks: Interacts with the system through typing and recording video.• Plot: Individual browses others' videos, creates a video memory, then

shares it with his family through email and online with all Epooq users.

Goals, Context, or ActivityA person is at home with his computer using this system because he:• received a video memory from one of his old colleagues, and has read/watched tutorials on the service

site• would like to communicate and connect with the rest of their family members through the use of

stories, even to spark real-life conversation• wants to store his videos in a safe and permanent destination for family members to watch after he's

gone, because he understands feels that his family maybe to busy for him or may have forgotten him.

This interaction will be successful if the system if:• it is quick and simple enough to learn in under an hour • trust exists that the personal history will be safe and retrievable decades from now• confidence is built in using the system and help exists if needed.• he sees the service's functions before trying it by himself• It is easy to upload the videos without problem• Initial experiences go smoothly and makes the user feel like he also wants to contribute • feedback after uploading the first video, either from his peers or from his family members (for gaining

confidence that someone out there is watching and enjoying the uploaded videos). • a feeling of control – of having fun while leaving a mark on the world

Analysis / ResultsThrough successful results of the interaction, the user can:

• relive his memories and feel hopeful about the memories living on after he's gone.

• feel a sense of belonging to the current information society by being able to successfully upload a video online and participate in a lively online community.

• enjoy thinking about the years gone by, and by sharing his stories he himself remembers more about them.

• feel that the service is giving him a reason to make sense of his life and why or how things have happened.
