BRIDGING THE SKILLS GAP

Page 2: Bridging the Skills Gap

We’re very proudA message from Jonathan Ledger, Managing Director

At a time of significant change in the UK skills system, and as we enter another financial year, I am reminded that we are more aligned to our employers and their industries than ever before. Gone are the days of uncontested government grants as austerity measures have taken a

bite out of the skills budgets. Employers are now expected to financially contribute far more to the skills agenda and

to take ‘ownership’ of their skill requirements.

But it’s not just the funding that keeps changing, it’s the skills system structure too. This tsunami of change is contributing to a difficult transitional time for business, but it’s also a time that is seeing Proskills UK and its National Skills Academy continue to deliver a range of services that wholly support employer and employee ambition to do more; to be more.

This summary document sets out to share some of the key achievements and successes that we’ve delivered through our exciting and meaningful end to end skills offer. We’re using employer feedback to directly develop industry skills standards and appropriate qualifications and we’re building a whole new range of training delivery capability and capacity. Our careers information and Schools Into Industry programmes have continued to challenge unfounded misconceptions and to inspire young people to become the next generation of workers in dynamic and exciting industries.

I’ve always been told that ‘if you want something different, you have to do something different’. Within the Proskills UK Group we have been doing exactly that. We’ve taken the lead from our employers and further developed a range of innovative skills solutions and partnerships which will ensure that we are really getting under the skin of businesses to support their growth and vibrancy. The global market place is all around and we’re work with governments, employers and training providers and skills stakeholders to embrace the world-wide challenges that a changed economy brings. Industry doesn’t stand still, so why should we?

Our industry-based approach to skills is one that relies on long term quality assured partnerships through which we are very proud to make a significant difference – not only to businesses, but to the individuals who are the drivers of enterprise and who make Britain Great!

If you want your business to be great, then get in touch and let’s make a real difference, together.

I’ve always been told that ‘if you want something different, you have to do something different’
