Brother Rice Grad Andy Gallik Drafted By Tennessee Titansin Sixth Round

CHICAGO -- Brother Rice graduate Andy Gallik is heading to Tennessee after being selected by theTitans in the sixth round of Saturday's NFL Draft.

Gallik, who starred at center at Boston College, told DNAinfo in 2014 that attending Brother Ricewas a "positive experience."

"I hope there's other young kids who are able to experience the things I was able to experience,"Gallik said.

Gallik was projected to be picked in the fifth or sixth round, according to his NFL Draft bio.

At Boston College, he was an All-Atlantic Coast Conference player in 2013 and a four-year starterwho had 40-plus starts.

Last year, he was named the ACC's Player of the Week for his position after helping the Eagles rush

for 452 yards and five touchdowns on the ground in an upset of then-No. 9 USC.

He was a first-team all-state player at Brother Rice.

"From Day One at Brother Rice, he set the goal of being a Division I offensive lineman, and [he]worked tirelessly to reach that goal," Brother Rice Director of Admissions Tim O'Connell, who alsocoached Gallik when he played for the Crusaders, told DNAinfo in 2014. "Andy's sacrifice,commitment and effort to achieving his goals on the field and in the classroom are a shining exampleto our student-athletes today, and continue to make our staff very proud."

The Evergreen Park native eventually wants to attend law school -- after football concludes.
