Just to Thank You…

Martin Oppenheimer, President

Recently Joyce and I had a

welcomed trip to the Atlantic shore.

The time away provided us an

opportunity to refresh, renew and relax.

Here at Beth El we have maintained a

very active schedule in the past months

and continue to move forward with

many great opportunities.

The Beth El Yearbook updating

activities are in process. This year the

L'Chaim pages will honor and

celebrate Rabbi Stephen and Judy

Grundfast for his 36 years in the

rabbinate. This provides a great

opportunity to include a celebratory

greeting in the Yearbook recognizing

their contribution to all of us.

There are many to thank and

acknowledge for making our

congregation vibrant, welcoming and

an integral part of our community.

First, to all of our congregants who

support, provide feedback, volunteer

and strengthen Beth El. After all, we

are a strong, supportive, generous and

caring community. You are the heart

and soul of our efforts and you are

truly wonderful and greatly

appreciated.

Our professional staff: Rabbi

Grundfast, Cantor Stein, and Erin Katz

Ford work together to provide

guidance, religious education, moral

support in good and trying times and

much more. We are fortunate to have

flexible, understanding, creative and

compassionate leaders. Their efforts

along with our congregants make Beth

El “the place to be.”

The partnerships developed by our

move to the Schultz Campus for Jewish

Life have been outstanding. The mutual

support and coordination with the entire

JCC and JCBA has exceeded the most

optimistic expectations.

Our Board of Trustees has guided us

through this year of transition. Their

input, insight and direction developed a

successful process in the personnel and

administrative transitions. We welcome

the following new Board members: Jill

Henry, Stacey Simonton, Debra Shifrin

Newman, Aaron Moskovitz, Rebecca

Moskovitz, Esther Hexter and Sharon

Merklin. We thank those who

completed their term on the Board:

Aaron Cohen, Susan Alfonso, Arlene

Miller, Michelle Mostow, Dr. Michael

Seider, Sheri Glauberman and Trish

Crane.

Our Officers have been an

incredible team working, debating and

creating new initiatives and problem

solving. Trish Crane, an outstanding

contributor and visionary as

secretary and vice-president, will be

replaced by Jerry Nelson due to her

other commitments. Sharon Merklin

will become our new secretary replacing

Jerry Nelson. We welcome both Jerry

and Sharon to their new leadership

positions.

I wish you and your family a safe,

relaxing, and refreshing summer season.

Shalom,

Marty

Schmooze at Togetherness Shabbat Please join us for a joint service with Temple Israel on Friday night, June 26, at

7:30 PM at Beth El. Prior to the service, we will have a Shabbat Schmooze –

light appetizers and wine from 6:45 to 7:30 PM. Oneg to follow the service.

This will be a highly participatory service. Cantor Rosenman and Hazzan Stein

rehearsed with four instrumentalists (keyboard, clarinet, bass and percussion)

and this promises to be a thrilling and upbeat service – a blending of Hassidic

and Klezmer sounds. We hope to see you there.
