Let us to present you some of our biggest projects for Coal burner systems accomplished by TOTEMA Engineering JSC in the recent 7-8 years, as follows:

1. In 2004 – 2009 for rehabilitation of ENEL Maritsa East 3 TPP, we designed, manufactured and commissioned Coal burners and Oil burners for all 4 Units /227 MW each/. Power plant’s coal base are high ballast lignite (Wr = 50 – 56 %, Ar = 12 – 22 %, LHV = 1400 – 1700 kcal/kg) from Maritsa East mines. Boilers are made in Russia, with natural circulation, dry slag removal and 8 Fan Mills with Classifier.

TOTEMA Engineering burners are direct flow, on three levels – two main levels and one vapor; centrifugal dust concentrator distributes solid phase along burner’s height, enriching dust-gas mixture. They are located upon angular tangential scheme to the axis of the furnace. Burner’s construction provides very well compensation of temperature extensions, gas-tightness and safe work.

First three Boilers were put in operation without any problems on burning systems. All design and guarantee parameters concerning the slagging, stability, economy of the burning process and NOx emissions were achieved. The fourth Unit started with occasional slagging, but after tests and analysis of the situation some manufacturing and erection faults were detected and eliminated, as a result the Unit has continued normal operation as other ones.

TOTEMA Engineering was realized also a project for reconstruction of dust-pulverizing system, in order to improve its gas-tightening and safety and also a new classifier – inertia type, with very good regulation of the dust fineness, a successful design of our company. As a result of the improvements and reduced resistance of the tract, Mill’s capacity increased with more than 15%; these ensured expansion of the Units power from 210 MW acc. to the project, to 227 MW.

2. In As Pontes TPP, Spain are installed 4 Units х 350 MW, based on local lignite (Wr 40 %, Ar 22 %, LHV 1700 kcal/kg). Boilers are tower type, natural circulation, dry slag removal, with Burn-out Grate, equipped with 6 Fan Mills without classifier, with pre-beater hammer part. Designed burners are multi-levels, with louver dust distributor, located to the furnace upon angular tangential scheme.

2.1. First reconstruction of the Coal Burners was made by our design to eliminate the slagging; further the results were very good.

2.2. In order to reduce the emissions of Sulfur Oxides, Power Plant starts to burn mixture of local lignite and non-sulfur Indonesian sub-bituminous coals; sustained parameters of the mixture was – Wr 35 %, Ar 21 %, LHV 2540 kcal/kg. For the new coal base TOTEMA Engineering elaborated projects for new coal burners and adaptation of the Mills (new Beater Wheel, modification of the casing and the door), which were implemented at all four Units during 1993 – 1996.

Burners upon this project are direct flow on 4 levels – 3 main and one vapor, with centrifugal dust concentrator, located upon angular tangential scheme. Reconstruction were very successful, requirements for non-slag regime were met, as well as the efficiency of the burning process.

2.3. Since 2004 the Power Plant began work with Indonesian sub-bituminous coals, which have no ash and sulfur: Wr = 24 – 27 %, Ar = 0,9 – 4 %, LHV = 4500 – 4912 kcal/kg. For this coal base we elaborated a project for new low NOX emissions burners, new Mills and Slag-removal system. Having in mind coal quality, the Burn-out Grate was removed and for the Mills were foreseen classifier; beater-part remains.

Burners are 4-levels, with OFA above each Burner, Centrifugal dust concentrator, which in this case has a predictable dust distributor purpose. All design and guarantee parameters of the Mills and Burners and for productivity, NOX emissions and efficiency of the burning process were met.

Our specialists have developed also many other different projects of Burning systems (Burners and Mills) for several Power Plants working with lignite and brown coals, located in Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria. All projects were realized and the results were very good. In these projects were implemented our company conception regarding burning process, depending of the design, burning base and capacity of the boiler. For the M ills with classifier we apply our successful company design of inertia adjustable classifier with low resistance.

Some of these power plants and scope of our projects are:

3. Novaky TPP, Slovakia – 2 Units х 110 MW – new brown coal burners, with louver dust distributor and reconstruction of Fan Mills in order to increase its capacity; this reconstruction includes new beater wheel, casing and classifier.

4. Timishoara TPP, Romania – for one boiler 110 Gcal/h working on lignite was made a project of new burners and Fan Mills with classifier.

5. Krayova TPP, Romania – boiler 370 t/h working on lignite: new Burners – three-floors, with centrifugal dust concentrator and reconstruction of Fan Mills, comprising new beater wheel, case, door and classifier.

6. Rovinary TPP, Romania – 2 Units х 210 MW working on lignite: new Burners – on 3-floors, with centrifugal dust concentrator; reconstruction of the Mills to increase the productivity, including new working wheel, shell, gate and separator.

7. Bobov dol TPP, Bulgaria – for 3 Units х

210 MW working on brown coals, TOTEMA Engineering has designed new Burners with new Mill’s beater wheel.
