BRIEF: Conceptualise a 21st Century Art School and write a Manifesto for it.

RESPONSE: 360 Art Academy- An Art Academy Based on a ship.

WHY? The Art School, In this day and age, should not stagnate beneath the misconception that an Art School provides what is viewed to be a “laid-back” escape for middle class misfits to experiment without cause.

My communication aims to change that perception whilst revolutionising the way Art Education is approached. As a reaction to the rapidly changing world, one that is growingly cluttered with impermeable messages, I have conceptualised a school that will give the artist a lived sense of the world in it’s holistic sense, one that has a completely different social structure (or lack thereof), with the potential to provide a context for much needed subversive artistic discourse to flourish.

Each wave is different from the last and never an indication of the one to come. Yet this doesn’t make the sea any less of an ocean.

This concept is based on the fundamentals of a Rainbow Nation. It focuses on the diversity of the beach with people from different walks of life loving to occupy that space and how this should be a natural progression to wanting to be a part of events such as these that take place at the beach. However this concept also explores the notion of waves and different types of waves, with a wave being a metaphor for an impact and by this we reveal that every South African is capable to make a impact and therefore every capable South African deserves to be at the event.

Asos Analogue is an application specialised in order to link with your the asos wearable technology range. A user will be able to download prints and templates from the asos online fashion store, through the application, thereafter uploading the print/template to their wearable technology items. The application will also act as a sharing hub wherin users will be enabled to generate and share their own prints. This will create an online community of forward thinking fashionistas linked under the asos umbrella.
