PRESIDENT’S POST
By Corrin Campbell, PA, CFP
PASC President
Members,
Another tax season closed, an-
other convention on board… an-
other year of business as usual.
For your state association, we too
continued as usual as well… moni-
toring and lobbying for your right
to practice your livelihood in Colorado without a lot
of regulation. We also educated you and your peers
through our Update classes. We have attempted to
maintain costs while providing valuable networking
and education.
The upcoming fiscal year could bring some important
changes. There is still talk from the Fiscal Institute
about introducing licensure legislation. We have
DORA in our camp, however, the legislature could be
another matter. We are looking into providing online
CPE credits for special topics as well. We are also
beginning to vette a new seminar provider for 2017.
We have some available volunteer oppor-
tunities on the board and committees.
Please come join us in providing quality
education and networking for yourself and
your peers.
Hopefully, I will be seeing you at the PASC
Convention.
Cheers,
Corrin Campbell

Executive Director’s Report
As PASC enters the 2016-2017
fiscal year beginning in July the organization is well-positioned and
stable. Over the past year revenue is down slightly due to lower seminar
attendance but we have largely offset this by keeping overhead expenses to
a minimum while continuing to pro-vide the variety of services that our members expect.
We began this fiscal year preparing for a possible legislative battle relating to licensure for paid tax pre-
parers. Due largely to the work of Betsy Murray and Andy Morehead the Department of Regulatory Agencies’
October 2015 report did not support licensure and no legislation was introduced in 2016. This was a major
milestone for PASC. As we begin the next fiscal year it
is important to remember that the prospects for the 2017 legislative session are largely unknown. The pun-
dits say that pretty much anything is possible. After the November elections PASC will develop a strategy for the
next legislative session and we will keep you informed by email and on the website.
You may have noticed that the PASC Newsletter has a new format. Our former newsletter editor, Lyn-
ette Myers, moved on to other projects and PASC de-cided to develop a new “look” for our signature publica-
tion that is also designed for staff to assemble in-house, thereby saving production costs. The newsletter will
now be published twice a year.
The 2016 Seminar Season may be our last year
with the National Center for Professional Education be-
cause of changes within that organization. PASC is working to identify alternate providers for the fall of
2017. Any suggestions that members have should be directed to our president, Corrin Campbelll.
At press time we are preparing for the 68th Annual Public Accountants Society of Colorado Convention in
Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 16 and 17. The lineup of classes is strong although attendance is down
from previous years. If you have not yet registered for the Convention now is the time to do so. This is your
chance to build relationships within the profession and to hone your skills.

Paying for college is never easy. But the National
Society of Accountants (NSA) Scholarship Founda-
tion has made it easier by offering scholarships to
promising accounting students across the country.
The Foundation awards scholarships to under-
graduates who are U.S. or Canadian citizens enrolled part-time or full-time in a degree
program at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States.
Applicants for awards are judged on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leader-
ship, and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, state-
ment of goals and aspirations, and an outside appraisal. They must have a “B” (3.0 on a
4.0 scale) or better grade point average.
Scholarship award amounts range from $500-$2,000, depending on available funding at
the time of the awards.
Last year the NSA Scholarship Foundation awarded 32 scholarships totaling $30,000 to
worthy recipients from across the country.
The National Society of Accountants (NSA) Scholarship Foundation has provided more
than $1 million since 1969 to deserving undergraduate and graduate students who are
committed to pursuing a career in accounting, helping to develop more qualified young
accountants.
