Catalogue Description MU 407 Arranging II (2 units) Techniques of arranging: modifying existing compositions for large and small vocal ensembles. 2 lectures/problem solving. Prerequisite: MU 121 II. Required Background or Experience MU 121 III. Expected Outcomes Student will be able to A. Notate, at an advanced level, using Sibelius, a music notation program. B. Identify musical forms and styles as well as compositional and arranging devices in a variety of choral repertoire. C. Score and arrange for: 1. SATB chorus 2. SSAA and/or TTBB chorus 3. Middle school chorus 4. Small vocal ensembles 5. Jazz vocal ensembles D. Re-score arrangements to fit the needs for student groups. IV. Text and Readings Ades, Hawley.
