MUMFORD & SONS

Wednesday 9th October - 7:00pm£17.50

in the Auditorium

West London quartet Mumford & Sons create classic, bluegrass-inspired folkster songs, that has quickly created a buzz across the British media. As peers of Laura Marling and Noah and The Whale, vocalist Marcus Mumford is a wonderfully wise and weathered songwriter in his own right.

“We wanted to do something unashamed. We’re confident and happy to be where we are as a band — everything that’s happened with us has exceeded expectations, and it’s all been a surprise, it’s all much bigger than what we were prepared for. So when we came to recording this record we had a choice: to shy away from that, or to realise that people dig what we’re doing, and make something robust, with that energy.”- Ben Lovett, Mumford & Sons

JAKE BUGG

BEN HOWARD

Saturday 12th October - 8:00pm£15

in the Auditorium

Wednesday 16th October - 7:00pm£12.50

This young singer/songwriter has accrued a hardcore fanbase by word-of-mouth, selling out shows both at home and across Europe. Raised by music-loving parents, Ben was introduced to the singer/songwriters of the '60s and '70s, with influences such as Nick Drake and John Martyn shining through on his critically acclaimed debut album 'Every Kingdom'.

Young singer/songwriter Jake Bugg stands out as one of the most exciting new UK acts of 2012

ELLIE GOULDINGJANET DEVLIN

Friday 18th October - 8:00pm£10

in the Studio Theatre

Former X Factor contestant Janet Devlin, had very little singing experi-ence beforeKelly Rowland chose her for the X Factor live shows. Whilst on the X Factor live shows,

it was revealed that Janet had received the highest number of votes for the first Four weeks of the show, which was the highest consecutive public vote out of all the 2011 contestants. Janet is now carving out a very successful career as an acclaimed singer/songwriter, with her unique voice and style.

Wednesday 23rd October - 7:00pm£17.50

in the Auditorium

As her debut album, Lights, made so thrillingly clear, Ellie Goulding uses her voice as a texture in much the same way that a skilled instrumentalist would. It is a sound – in Ellie's case, an utterly

distinctive and unforgettable one – that can play as important a role in her songs as any other musical detail.

NOAH AND THE WHALE

Friday 1st November - 8:00pm£17.50

in the Auditorium

Energetic popsters from London whose proficient songs and live sets employ

beautiful harmonies and elements of folk and bluegrass to good effect. Their hit song

'5 Years' Time' is sufficient to reel in any potential fan, as their packed-out gigs

would suggest.

Some of the lyrics on the album were inspired by some of Bukowski’s poetry. There’s one collection

of his poems in particular called ‘The Last Night Of The Earth’. I liked the title. I liked the immediacy of it potentially being the very last night on earth, but

also that it could be just any other night. For a while I was going to call the album ‘Night Windows’ after

the Hopper painting. I like the idea that the album is just a portrait of people’s lives over one evening and

what they’re doing.” - Charlie Fink, Noah and the Whale
