Caoba takes a great deal of pride with everyproduct it produces. Although we manufacturea full array of windows and interior products,we are best known for our entry doors. In theevent that the warranty for you entry door(s)should become an issue we have designed thefollowing guidelines to help you betterunderstand the industry standards with regardsto issues associated with exposure. To insurethat your door lasts a lifetime it is important totake into consideration your climate as well asthe direction your entrance faces. Protectingyour investment is very important as it willdirectly affect the overall performance of the

product. You can easily calculate if you havean adequate overhang by following this simpleformula: Half the distance from the floor tothe ceiling (exterior side) should be theprojection of your overhang. For Example, ifthe measurement from the base of your entryto the bottom of your overhang is 12 feet thanyour overhang should project outapproximately 6 feet.

Protect your door & extend its lifeThe illustration to the right pertains to mostentrances but there are a few exceptions. Ifyour unit faces directly south or southwest you

should follow a different set of guidelines. Thedistance from the base of your entry to thebottom of the ceiling should be the projection.For example, if the measurement from the baseof your entry is 12 feet than so should theprojection of your overhang. It is important tonote that the less your entry is exposed to directsun, water, or ocean air the better. The bestsolution for a direct exposure application is“split finish”. Paint the exterior white and stainthe interior any color of your choosing. Pleaserefer to our written Limited Warranty & Siteand Handling Finish Instructions for moredetailed information.

Doors distributed by Caoba West Dist. are warranted for 2 yearsfrom the date of shipment to be of good material andworkmanship and at the time of shipment free of defects thatwould render them unfit for ordinary recommended purposes.Should a warranted door be found by Caoba West Dist. to bedefective, Caoba West Dist. will at its option, either:

1. Repair the door without charge, or;

2. Provide a replacement part or parts for repair of the doorwithout charge, or;

3. Provide a replacement door in the same stage of fittingand/or finishing as it was originally supplied, or;

4. Refund the price received for the door after the defectivedoor is received by Caoba West Dist.

Final warranty inspection will be made at the factory upon receiptof defective door. If the claim is found to be invalid, neither creditnor refund of deposit will be issued for the replacement door orthe original door.

We will not be held liable for any door repaired or replacedwithout our prior written consent.

You must inspect each door immediately upon receipt. If a defectis discovered, a written notice must be given to Caoba West Dist.within 30 days and before the door is hung or altered in anymanner.

We will not pay any cost to remove defective doors or to installnew doors, nor are we responsible for any finishing costs or

consequential damages. We will not be held liable for any doorrepaired or replaced without our prior written consent.The following are not to be considered defects in material orworkmanship and are not covered by this limited warranty:1. Wood doors are susceptible to expansion and contraction

caused by temperature and humidity variations. Smallsurface checking or slight shrinking or cupping, which maycause tiny cracks at the joints, may occur under certainconditions. These deviations from perfection are notconsidered flaws. Most doors are shipped unsealed andunfinished and the natural characteristics of woodmovement cannot be warranted against. Caoba West Dist.’s“Handling, Site Finishing and Installation Instructions” mustbe followed to minimize problems.

2. Warp shall not be considered a defect unless it exceeds 1/4”in the plane of door. Doors wider than 3’6” or higher than8’ and doors wider than 3’0” or higher than 7’ (1 3/8”thickness) are not warranted against bow or twist. Warp isany distortion in the door itself and does not refer to therelationship or the door to the frame or jamb in which it ishung. The term warp shall include bow, cup and twist.

3. Panel shrinkage.

4. Cutting into mortise and tenon joints.

5. The appearance of field finished doors.

6. Natural variations in the colors of the wood or in the textureand grain of wood.

7. Doors which are improperly hung or do not swing freely.

8. Exterior doors not protected by substantial overhang andexposed to extreme weather conditions, or which have beenfinished a dark color and receive direct exposure tosunlight.

9. Doors that are not finished and maintained according toCaoba West Dist.’s written “Handling, Installation andFinishing Instructions”.

10. Single safety glass reinforcement is not considered to betrue insulating glass. Because of the nature of leaded glassconstruction, certain weather conditions may producecondensation in doors with safety glass reinforcement.Caoba West Dist. will not warranty doors of this type againstcondensation between the two glass elements.

11. Doors made without safety glass rein-forcement innonconformity with our specifications are not warranted asto failure of glass elements.

12. Any condition arising from the neglect or failure to properlymaintain the door.

13. Defects or damages arising in or as a result of shipment bycommon carriers.

14. Any implied warranty shall be limited in duration to theperiod of this warranty. There are no warranties that extendbeyond this warranty, and Caoba West Dist.’s soleresponsibility under this warranty is as stated herein. CaobaWest Dist. shall not be held liable for consequential, indirector incidental damages, or for any amount in excess of CaobaWest Dist.’s price for the item involved.
