PREPOSITION OF PLACE/POSITION. We use the preposition of place to show where someone or something is.

PLACE/POSITION

[ in (inside) ] Jack is in the box. The books are in the

bag. Peter is in the box.

[ on/over/above] The clock is on the wall. The sofá is

on the floor. The keys is on the

table.

[ under/below] The cat is under the bed. The ball

is under the table.

[ next to (beside) ] The dog is next to the cat. My parents are

next to the car. Karen is next to Peter.

[ behind ] The window is behind the couch. The

football field is behind the school. The

swimming pool is behind the house.

[ in front of] The TV is in front of the bed. The

teacher is in front of me.

Imperatives…

Imperative form… LISTEN TO THE CD!!!

DON’T SPEAK!!!

We form the imperative with the base form of the verb.

- Write in your notebooks!!!

We form the negative form with don’t + base form of the verb.

- Don’t speak!!!

- Don’t cry!!!

We use the imperative form to ask someone to do something.

- Talk in pairs.

We can use “please” to be more polite.
