Chickahominy Tribe ExperienceINVESTIgATION you are going to have a unique opportunity to sit down and spend time getting to know members of the Chickahominy Tribe. Remember that they are our neighbors and have the deepest roots in our place in tidewater Virginia. Be active listeners and take advantage of opportunities to ask questions. make a positive impression.

Below are three topics that you will learn more about from talking with members of the Chickahominy Tribe. Knowing about these three topics will help you identify with how people have used our common place throughout history.

1. PEOPlE: The social structure and change that the tribe has gone through over time in order to meet its wants and needs (examples - government, laws, education, social hierarchy, etc).

2. NATURAl ENVIRONmENT: The tribe’s connection with and impact on the natural environment in tidewater VA in their effort to meet their wants and needs (examples - food, water, shelter, power, recreation, spiritual connections to the environment, etc.).

INVESTIgATION To many, Jamestown was the beginning of the United States. That very notion is extremely controversial. you are going to spend time investigating Jamestown and deciding for yourselves what the significance of the settlement was for tidewater Virginia and beyond. Please use the interpreters, fort, grounds, ships, etc. to help in your investigation.
