University Teaching Experience: Over 24 years in the areas of Sport Anthropology with a special
interest on the Traditional Games of Africa; Exercise Physiology, and Pedagogy
of Physical Education and Sports both at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels.

University administrative Experience: Served as a Dept Chair twice since 2002 - 2004, 2006 – 2010,
a university Partnerships Director, 2010 – 2014; and Director Quality
Assurance, Linkages and Partnerships (2014 to present at MKU);and established
the largest University based incubation center in the region as well as
consultancies in establishment of MKU’s Enterprise Academy.

1. 1999 to 2014, over 56 quality Research Supervisions at PhD (13), Masters (26) and 17
(Postgraduate Diploma) at different Universities, nationally and internationally, namely, Kenyatta
University, (Kenya}; Kyambogo University, (Uganda); University of Dar es salaam, (Tanzania);
and University of Karlsruhe, (Germany), as detailed below. Out of these 45 are completed and
over 11 are ongoing.

Management (WASM); University of Aletheia, Taiwan, University of Leuphana (Germany), Kenya
Commission for UNESCO; BASF Stiftung (Germany), BASF (East Africa) Ltd, University of West
Virginia, Ohio University, University of South Carolina and many others.
10. My Directorate scored and was ranked highest out of all Departments and Directorates and
offices at Kenyatta University in the 2010/2011 performance contracting year.
11. Served as the founding Director of Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre which
has become a very successful story and an African model.
12. In 2012, I initiated and have facilitated very successfully the establishment of Students Training
on Entrepreneurial Promotion (STEP – Kenya Chapter) at Kenyatta University and in the
country. This is programme continues to benefit hundreds of students at Kenyatta University
between 2012 and 2014 where students receive a startup loan (Ksh8,500) from donors to start
their own businesses as they go through a 3 months STEP sessions and they refund the loans at
the end of 3 months but keep their profits. (STEP (Kenya) is a collaboration project amongst
Kenyatta University, Leupharna University (Germany), Kenya National Commission for
UNESCO, BASF Stiftung (Germany) and German Commission for UNESCO.
Courtesy of UNESCO Regional office, arrangements are underway to introduce STEP
at the Kenyan counties as well as at MKU effective this year.

Maasai games for a possible formalization.
2007 – UNESCO Consultancy; appointed as a Consultant by the UNESCO to initiate,
co-ordinate and document a research report entitled, “PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND
SPORTS (PES) IN KENYA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TEACHER–TRAINING
COLLEGES: CURRENT STATUS, CHALLENGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
IMPROVEMENT”

Received a Nile Basin Research Programme award and joined a team of 10 Guest

project entitled, “External Aid System and Sports in Kenya’s National
Development’', hence participated at the University of Bergen, Norway between
August and December 2009 on Nile Basin Research Programme.

of Dar es salaam, University of Nairobi, Kyambogo University (Uganda), Kigali Institute of
Education (Rwanda), Makerere University and University of Benin.
20. In 2011, I served as the Vice Chairman deputizing DVC (Administration) in
successfully organizing and hosting the 2011 East African Universities Games at
Kenyatta University.

(viii) 2005 to 2006 served as the Departmental Postgraduate Studies Coordinator, in charge of
Post Graduate Programmes review, enrollments and supervisions. Coordinated the
development of two new MSc programmes in 1) Leisure and Recreation Management and 2)
Sports Science and review of one MSc programme in Physical and Health Education all of
which were approved by the Kenyatta University Senate in June 2007 and have been
implemented.
(ix) 2004 to 2005 served as a Departmental Undergraduate studies coordinator and successfully
undertook the review of all the THREE departmental undergraduate programmes which have
been implemented so far.
