Dear Friends,

This year commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Cedarburg Cultural Center! I am so excited and proud to be a part of this yearlong celebration and I can’t wait to get the festivities rolling. This year’s Gala, A

String of Pearls, will take place on Saturday, February 7th, and we are pulling out all of the stops to celebrate in style. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes as this party will go into the wee hours with catering provided by Shully’s Cuisine and entertainment by The Myles Hayes Big Band! Our brand new History Wall will be lled with pictures and memo-ries from the past 30 years and we would love it if everyone would pop into the Center and take a moment to share with us the special memories you have made here.

A huge thank you to all past & present Sta, Board Members, Sponsors and Volunteers …without your support we certainly wouldn’t be where we are today.

Cheers to another 30 years!

VOLUNTEER OF THE SEASONThe Center’s “Volunteer of the Season,” Matt DeLoge, was drawn into volunteerism through his willingness to help and capacity to provide solutions. Matt’s wife, Bridget, was an exhibiting artist in the Cedarburg Artists Guild’s Main Street Gallery inside the Center when the topic of lighting came up in the spring of 2012.

With 24 years of experience in multiple roles at Johnson Controls, including his current role as the Director of Engineering, Matt’s expertise was called into action. On a volunteer basis, Matt assessed the Center’s lighting, proposed a plan and was able to coordinate and implement improvements. Based on Matt’s knowledge and his profes-sional, hands-on, easy-to-work-with style, he was rst asked to sit in on a CCC Facili-ties Committee meeting in the fall of 2012, later joining that committee, and in December 2013 he became the Committee Chairperson. Matt was then invited to join

the Center’s Board of Directors and began his rst term on June 1, 2014.

Although Matt’s skill set has enabled him to tackle multiple repair, maintenance and construction projects, his focus goes well beyond to setting goals to take the Center’s capital improvements to the next level for the future. His expertise came in to play when considering various options, requirements and costs, as well as communicating eectively with sta, board, contractors and other parties involved.

With the Center’s diverse mission and multiple facility needs, Matt’s guidance and hard work have been invaluable in providing positive results across all committees and programming areas. When asked about his commitment to volunteerism, Matt shares: “I have always been taught to share my talents and capabilities. Having only lived in Wisconsin for a few years I wanted to develop new relationships that would help me and my family establish connections in the local community. The Cedarburg Cultural Center has provided that ‘vehicle’ for us. It also allows my family to participate in things that we enjoy as well as meet and nd new friends in the area.” In addition to his work with the Center, Matt is active with Habitat for Humanity, church outreach and Knights of Columbus. Matt’s impact on the Center through his dedica-tion and generosity of time and talent is absolutely priceless! The Center and community are fortunate to be beneciaries of his expertise and gracious manner.

S CAREY Saturday, January 24

7:30 pm

While on tour with Bon Iver, Carey developed his own song writing ambitions, and after many less than frequent recording sessions between tours, released All We Grow in 2010. Those nine songs sat between a folk/modern classical hybrid and rareed jazz climes. Carey’s warm melodic nuances, reected in the lush folds of his singing, added to the mutable percussive syncopations of his instrumentation.

April: Kerry Tharp-MosaicsThursdays: April 9, 16, 23 & 30: 10 am – 3 pmKerry is a self-taught artist and has been practicing art for over 20 years as a way to bring balance into her life. Art provides her with the opportunity to create, to connect with others, and to bring herself back to center. Though she’s enjoyed working in watercolor, ber, and jewelry, art glass has intrigued her for as long as she can remember. The mosaic process allows for endless possibilities in

working with such incredibly beautiful art glass. Tharp’s desire to learn this art form came to fruition over a decade ago with an unexpected and unusual gift from her husband and kids: glass cutters, glass, tile, and a bag of grout! Others have described her art as having a contemporary air. She enjoys making fun, spirited and whimsical pieces or... peaceful, calming ones. A common thread in her work is the ow or movement achieved by thoughtful placement of the tesserae and choice of materi-als. Her inspiration comes from nature; emotion of color; movement; ancient mythology; and the surprises found in the glass itself.

During the day, she works for the Milwaukee Art Museum on their in-house design team, and teaches at Splash Studio: A Painting Bar in Milwaukee’s
