Flat paint has a higher percentage of pigment than

other formulas which usually requires fewer coats. It has very little sheen and is good

for hiding surface imperfections. It’s

washable but not as durable as the glossier finishes and

doesn’t stand up to humidity. This is not a good choice for

bathrooms or kitchens.

Eggshell is a bit shinier than flat which makes it a good

choice for hiding imperfections. The added sheen makes it easier to

clean than flat paints. They are best used in

high-traffic rooms such as kids bedrooms and

living rooms.

A step up from eggshell, pearl creates a smoother less porous surface and is perfect for kids rooms and kitchens where frequent cleaning of walls occur.

Pearl is also commonly used on trim work such

as baseboards, mouldings and doors.

Semi-gloss has a higher sheen than the rest and

more resistant to dirt and mildew. The thick, shiny film that develops makes

cleaning this surface a breeze. Semi-gloss paints are perfect for kitchens,

bathrooms and trims or any area that requires regular

or vigorous cleaning.
