Thank you for your interest in Central Musical Theatre. We are a competitive Musical Theatre degree program, situated in the heart of the great state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma is unique in that it has three thriving Musical Theatre programs in the Oklahoma City Metro area. (Texas only has three in the entire state!) Excellence in Musical Theatre is an Oklahoma tradition. At Central you will have access to training from a faculty/staff of seasoned artists, many of whom have been professional performers, directors, choreographers, musical directors, and conductors. You will be guided through a rigorous interdisciplinary program that includes comprehensive triple-threat training in singing, dancing, and acting. Central Musical Theatre collaborates closely with the Theatre Arts Department, the Dance Department, and Opera Performance, to allow you a diverse range of training and performance opportunities. At Central you will have the opportunity to perform in two full-scale mainstage musicals every year. Productions range from contemporary to classic; familiar to ground-breaking. Past seasons have included: The Wild Party, A Chorus Line, Jane Eyre, State Fair, The Full Monty, Side Show, She Loves Me, The Fix, Assassins, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Chicago, Baby, The Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret, Sweeney Todd and The Mystery of Edwin Drood – just to name a few! As a Musical Theatre major, you will also have a chance to perform in professional-caliber musical reviews and smaller musicals at the #1 venue for live music in the OKC metro area, the UCO Jazz Lab. We also offer you a unique opportunity to collaborate with the UCO Broadway Tonight Series, an on-campus artist series that offers workshops, master classes, and even collaborative performance opportunities with entertainment legends every semester. Students have worked with Tommy Tune, Olympia Dukakis, Jodi Benson, Liz Callaway, Tom Wopat, Sandi Patty, Jimmy Webb, Linda Eder, Franc D’Ambrosio, Savion Glover, Judy Kuhn, and Chicago Tap, just to name a few. As a testament to the quality of our training at Central, many of our esteemed alumni have gone on to careers on Broadway (The Book of Mormon, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia!, Beauty and the Beast, Cabaret, The Boys From Syracuse, Cats, Footloose, Good Vibrations) Off-Broadway (The Magdelene, Nunsense A-Men!), and Broadway National Tours (Mamma Mia!, Les Miserables, Cabaret, Cats, Footloose, State Fair, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Oklahoma!, Carousel, Spamalot, Beauty and the Beast) and as a part of regional theatres, international tours, and major cruise lines. Miss America 2007, Lauren Nelson, was crowned while in our program. At Central Musical Theatre you will also have the opportunity to collaborate with local professional companies who offer students professional credits and Equity Membership Candidate (EMC) credits with the Actor’s Equity Association (AEA). Central’s continuing collaborations with CityRep have included area premieres of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Zombie Prom. Welcome to the University of Central Oklahoma’s award-winning Musical Theatre program.

Lindsie VanWinkle Lindsie VanWinkle is a proud graduate of UCO’s Musical Theatre program. She has been living and working professionally in NYC for the last 10 years. She has multiple Off- Broadway credits; the most recent playing Eliza Poe in Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allen Poe at New World Stages. She has toured nationally with Randy Skinner’s production of White Christmas and performed at numerous regional theaters across the US. Some of her favorite roles include: Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins), Judy Bernly (9 to 5: The Musical!), Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Rosabud (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Cathy Hiatt (L5Y ), Fantine (Les Miserables), Rona Lisa Peretti (25th Annual… Spelling Bee) and Percy (The Spitfire Grill). However, her greatest passion lies in cultivating new works. She had the honor of playing Patti Page in Greg White’s Flipside: The Patti Page Story and she just finished working on Austen’s Pride: A New Musical of Pride and Prejudice, where she took on the title role

Ryan Steer Ryan Steer is a native of Norman, Oklahoma. The day after graduating from the Music Theatre program at UCO, Ryan hopped a plane to perform in the summer season at Surflight Theatre. Since then he has remained steadily employed as a professional actor. His credits include: The 1st National Tour of Anything Goes, the national/international tour of A Chorus Line (Zach), and a touring production of 42nd Street. Off-Broadway he starred as Dan in the comedy Sex Tips for Straight Women From a Gay Man and has performed at Town Hall. Regionally he has been seen in productions at Paper Mill Playhouse (Damn Yankees, South Pacific), Ogunquit Playhouse (White Christmas), Westchester Broadway (Backwards in High Heels), McCarter Theatre (A Christmas Carol), Arizona Broadway (CATS), Lyric Theatre in OKC, and CityRep. Commercially he has been seen and heard with such brands as Bud Light, High 5 Games, and Rockstar Games. He is incredibly grateful for his time spent with the Music Theatre and Dance faculty at UCO. They are like family, and with their knowledge, training, and nurturing guidance he is confident he can continue a life-long and successful acting career.

Jay Leland KrottingerEntrepreneur - Artist - Philanthropist -- Jay Leland Krottinger resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he is COO and co-founder of Tanninger Companies. His firm holds ownership in multiple industries ranging from biotech product marketing, remote neurologic diagnostic technologies, to hospitality & restaurants, film, Broadway & live entertainment as well as real estate investments in historic preservation projects in Tulsa. Jay’s commitment to an entrepreneurial spirit and his passion for inspiring philanthropy has been recognized by Oklahoma Magazine as one of Oklahoma’s top “40 under 40” entrepreneurs and business leaders. In 2013 his firm Square 1 Theatrics received the Antoinette Perry TONY Award for Excellence in Theatre, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, and the Drama League Award for producing the revival of Pippin. Additionally, Square 1 is a 2015 Olivier Nominated producer for helping bring the 2010 TONY Award winning musical Memphis to London’s West End. Square 1 Theatrics also co-produced the new musical, Waitress, with music and lyrics by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles.

Jay is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma where he holds both Bachelor & Master degrees is Music Theatre & Opera, as well as continued education in business administration and marketing.

Erin ClemonsErin Clemons is an Oklahoma native who graduated from UCO in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Musical Theatre. Broadway and Tour Credits include: Les Misérables, (Éponine), Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Tour (u/s Éponine), Prince of Broadway (u/s All Women). She has also been seen in many regional productions at Music Theatre Wichita and Oklahoma City Rep. Some of those credits include: Jesus Christ Superstar (Mary Magdalene), Spelling Bee (Marcy Park), among others.

Greg Whiteis an actor, director, playwright, producer, presenter, who is the Director of Musical Theatre, the Executive Director for Broadway Tonight, and the Assistant Dean for Outreach for the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Central Oklahoma. Greg created original roles in performances in New York City, travelled the country performing in Broadway National Tours, toured the globe as a vocalist on major cruise lines, and directed award-winning productions all over the nation.His original musical, Flipside: The Patti Page Story, which was developed at UCO, was selected from a National Theatre Festival to play the Kennedy Center. The show has also played to standing ovations Off-Broadway and around the country.While he holds a PhD in Fine Arts from Texas Tech University, Greg also has two fine arts degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma, and he is proud to call Edmond his hometown.

Steven Smeltzeris a professional director/choreographer and Musical Theatre faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma. Steven has directed national and international tours, including the recent tour of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Steven is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association, SAG and AFTRA.

Billie Thrashis a professional actress/director/choreographer and Musical Theatre faculty at the University of Central Oklahoma. Over the years she has worked in various capacities with such artists as Bob Hope, Baayork Lee, Sally Mayes, Dee Hoty, Donna McKechnie, Ann Miller, Eddie Bracken, Tony Roberts, John Davidson, Kristen Chenoweth, Kelli O’Hara among many others.

Amy Reynolds Reedis an active performer, director and educator. She has performed roles in musicals and operas throughout much of the United States and in Canada. Directing credits include university productions of musicals, operas, operettas and scenes programs. Her students have performed on Broadway, with New York City Opera, in national and international young artist programs and at regional theatres. She holds DMA and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University and did her undergraduate vocal performance studies at Oklahoma City University.
