PIPE IDEnTIFICaTIon marKIngAdditional to the safety signage, Blomsma Signs & Safety produced, delivered and installed all pipe identification markings. The pipe identification markings were designed according to ISO 14726 legislations and appended with the hazard symbols according to GHS (Globally Harmonized System). These hazard symbols are also present on the marking of the storage tanks.The Blomsma Signs & Safety team installed all the laminated polyester pipe identification tape according to the process en instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s). The tapes are manufactured with 3M materials and solvents to ensure the highest possible durability and quality. The pipe identification tape has an acryl based adhesive backing which is non aggressive to stainless steel, aluminum or other materials.

Examples of the pipe identifications:- Air systems (instrument air)- Chemicals (corrosion inhibitors, glycol)- Water (sea water, potable water)- Gasses (natural gas, vent gas)- Waste Media (open and closed drain)- Firefighting (sprinkler, deluge and firefighting gas)- Fuels (diesel, heli fuel, methanol and condensate)

InTroDUCTIonIn June 2010 Blomsma Signs & Safety acquired the order for engineering, production, delivery and installation of the safety signage and pipe identification markings for the Centrica Energy F3FA platform from Heerema Fabrication.Blomsma Signs and Safety has over 25 years of experience in signing offshore, maritime and (petro)chemical installations. Recent changes in legislations were applied through various new items to ensure the highest safety and quality standards.The installation took place at the Heerema Vlissingen Fabrication Yard in the Netherlands by the Blomsma Signs & Safety installation team, who also realized additional and hook-up installation at the offshore site. Our team completed the project with zero incidents.

saFETy sIgnagE EngInEErIng anD EXECUTIonA complete sign plan with detailed drawings was engineered based on supplied general arrangement drawings, side view drawings and the safety equipment drawings. All safety signs were placed on the sign drawings with a complete description of their properties. After approval by Centrica Energy and Heerema the safety signage was installed according to the sign plan. The as-build sign plan was handed over after completion and is now an excellent tool for maintaining the installed signage. The project was handled from start till completion by one specialized project manager.
