¡Vuelve Pósporos! En este tramo final del año, os presentamos de la mano de la Embajada de España el esperado ciclo de Pósporos, que tiene ya un peso propio en el panorama musical de Manila. Lo mejor de la música contemporánea española y filipina, al alcance de la mano.
No os perdáis tampoco a un reconocido periodista como Alfonso Armada, que regresa a Manila este 6 de noviembre para hablarnos sobre la buena literatura y el periodismo, que domina con maestría.
Un espacio para la diversión se abre los sábados en nuestra segunda sede de Intramuros, con el ciclo de comedia española de noviembre, que dará paso al ciclo de cine sobre flamenco, en diciembre.
Recordad que aunque estamos en el corazón de Makati, hemos ampliado la red de servicios con la apertura de un segundo espacio cultural en Intramuros, donde tenéis en la Biblioteca Miguel Hernández a vuestra disposición la mayor parte de nuestra colección de Filipiniana española clásica y contemporánea.
En los últimos cuatro años y medio han sido tiempo de renovación en el Instituto Cervantes de Manila. Con mi reconocimiento por vuestra pasión por el idioma y la cultura en español, me despido de vosotros. Pósporos returns! In this final stretch of the year, we present to you through the Embassy of Spain the much awaited cycle of Pósporos, which already has its own influence in the musical panorama of Manila, showcasing the best of Spanish and Filipino contemporary music at everyone’s fingertips.
Don’t miss the talk of a well-known journalist like Alfonso Armada, who returns to Manila this November 6 to discuss about good literature and journalism, which is his expertise.
A space for entertainment opens every Saturday in our second branch in Intramuros with a film cycle on Spanish comedy in November, which will give way to a film series on Flamenco come December.
Bear in mind that although we are located in the heart of Makati, we have broadened our network of services with the opening of our second cultural space in Intramuros, where you can have the greater part of our classic and contemporary Spanish Filipiniana collection at your disposal in the Miguel Hernández Library.
The last four and a half years have been a time for renovation in Instituto Cervantes de Manila. I bid goodbye with my warm acknowledgement of your passion for the Spanish language and culture. “Se puede hacer gran literatura haciendo periodismo.” (Alfonso Armada)
El premio Nobel de Literatura que recibió la periodista bielorrusa Svetlana Alexévich hizo lo que no logró el Nobel a Albert Camus. El autor de "La peste" o "El extranjero" no lo recibió por sus excelentes reportajes y artículos periodísticos, sino por sus novelas, sus obras de teatro, sus ensayos. En el caso de Alexiévich era la primera vez que se recompensaba al periodismo con el mayor galardón internacional en el mundo de las letras. Cuando a la gran reportera argentina Leila Guerriero le preguntan cuándo va a escribir su primera novela ella siempre responde que le basta con la realidad. Se puede hacer magnífica literatura haciendo excelente periodismo. Esa senda cada vez más rica de la no ficción parte de un pacto sagrado que el periodista firma con los lectores: no se puede inventar la nada. La búsqueda de la verdad es la meta. En tiempos de desinformación y "fake news" el periodismo se hace más necesario que nunca. El buen periodismo, el que nos ayuda a comprender una realidad tan compleja como apasionante.
The Nobel Prize in Literature received by the Belarusian journalist Svetlana Alexiévich achieved something that had not been accomplished before, including that of fellow Nobel winner Albert Camus. The French author of The Pest or The Stranger received the prestigious award not for his excellent news articles but for his novels, his screenplays, his essays. In the case of Alexiévich, it was the first time that journalism was rewarded with the highest international award in the world of letters. When asked by the great Argentine reporter Leila Guerrriero when she would come out with her first novel, Alexiévich would always reply that reality is enough for her. You can do great literature by doing excellent journalism. This increasingly rich path of nonfiction is a sacred pact that the journalist signs with the readers: you can invent nothing. The search for truth is the goal. In times of disinformation and “fake news”, journalism is needed more than ever – good journalism, the key to understanding reality that is as complex as it is exciting.

El técnico de comunicaciones neoyorquino Frank Moore es enviado a un puesto de comunicaciones en el remoto pueblo de Puerto Miranda, a orillas del Caribe. Frank, un hombre de pocas palabras y con un pasado del que prefiere no hablar, llega por primera vez a Venezuela convencido de que pierde el tiempo en un paraje tan alejado del núcleo de la guerra. No imagina que en ese lugar tropical se cuece un plan de espionaje de los nazis para golpear uno de los principales motores de la guerra: el abastecimiento de petróleo para los aliados. Mucho menos se imagina que su vida cambiará al conocer a Venezzia, la esposa de su comandante.
New York communications technician Frank Moore, of a Latin mother and who speaks good Spanish, is assigned and sent to a communications post in the remote town of Puerto Miranda, on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Frank, a man of few words and with a past from which he prefers not to speak, arrives for the first time in Venezuela, sure that he loses his time in a place so far from the core of the war. He cannot imagine that there in that tropical place is a plan of espionage for the Nazis to hit one of the main engines of the war: the supply of oil for the allies. Much less imagines that his life will change to meet Venezzia, the wife of his commander Captain Salvatierra.

Descubrir Europa a través de su cine es el objetivo principal del Festival CINE EUROPA. La Delegación de la Unión Europea en Filipinas, los países miembros y los principales centros culturales europeos (Instituto Cervantes, entre ellos), presentan CINE EUROPA 21. Tras la inauguración en Cebú y las mangas en Tacloban, Baguio, Ilo-ilo y otras ciudades del Archipiélago, la Muestra llega a Metro Manila. Durante los meses de noviembre y diciembre, en colaboración con el FDCP, se proyectarán más de una veintena de largometrajes europeos. España participa con dos películas: Bienvenido, Míster Marshall (Luis García Berlanga, 1953) y Martín (Hache) (Adolfo Aristarain, 1997).
Discovering Europe through its cinema is the main objective of CINE EUROPA. The Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, the member countries and the main European cultural centers (Instituto Cervantes, among them), present CINE EUROPA 21. After the inauguration in Cebu and the sleeves in Tacloban, Baguio, Ilo- ilo and other cities, the Film Festival lands in Metro Manila. POSPOROS 2018DICIEMBRE - DECEMBER 2018
Posporos es un proyecto musical único organizado por la Embajada de España en Filipinas y el Instituto Cervantes, en colaboración con la National Comission for Culture and the Arts. Desde 2016, este ciclo de conciertos ha contado con 22 bandas españolas y filipinas que han compartido escenario en diferentes salas de Manila. El objetivo principal de Posporos es traer voces españolas a este país asiático para ponerlas en contacto con los medios de comunicación y los agentes más relevantes de su rico y amplio contexto musical. Además de los conciertos, el ciclo proporciona un espacio para el intercambio de ideas y experiencias en el que los artistas exploran el país y participan en un buen número de actividades, desde talleres a charlas distendidas.
Posporos is a unique music project organized by the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines and the Instituto Cervantes in collaboration with the National Comission for Culture and the Arts. Since 2016, this series of concerts has featured 22 Spanish and Filipino rock bands that have shared the stage in different venues across Manila. The project seeks to bring innovative and recognized Spanish voices to Southeast Asia and put them in touch with Philippine music’s most important mass media and established personalities. Now in its third season, the concert series provide a space where artists exchange ideas, share experiences, and participate in a diverse range of activities, from workshops to informal discussions.

No es necesario ser socio de la biblioteca para poder consultar nuestras colecciones. Lógicamente, animamos a que si os interesa nuestra lengua y cultura os inscribáis para conseguir nuestro carnet. Eso os dará la posibilidad de llevaros en préstamo nuestros libros o audiovisuales y de tener acceso a nuestra biblioteca electrónica. No os perdáis esta oportunidad.

Our general language courses are organized following the CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Language Learning) and provide a certified and highly standardized methodology for those who want to learn Spanish for general purposes.

Students will be able to speak Spanish from the first day in order to learn to express opinions, feelings and needs in a simple way. They will be able to read brief letters and texts related to daily life as well as to write simple texts and notes.
Intermediate and upper intermediate levels. Students will improve their speaking ability, asking and answering questions along with expressing themselves on a variety of topics related to the past and future events. They will be able to use communication skills to keep up conversations on general matters, write letters and essays on general aspects of life.
Students will be capable to debate points of view, put forward arguments and learn to write using idioms, expressions and other stylistic resources which allow creative use of the language. They will have no difficulty in reading contemporary Spanish and Latin American literature.

Instituto Cervantes, the only official Spanish Government Language Center, is a public institution founded in 1991 to promote Spanish language learning and knowledge of the culture of Spanish-speaking countries throughout the world.
We offer Spanish language classes at affordable rates, as well as special courses for business, BPO/customer service representatives, nurses, caregivers, children and teachers. We also have cultural enhancement courses for those who wish to learn more about cinema, literature, music and arts of the Spanish- speaking world.

DELE PREPARATION COURSE4-5 WEEK COURSEDEPENDS ON AVAILABLE SCHEDULE
Instituto Cervantes offers preparation courses for each of the six (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2) DELE examinations. To ensure that candidates are at their learning peak on the exam date, the DELE preparation courses are run just prior to the DELE exam dates.

The Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language (DELE) is the official certification of an individual´s competence and mastery of the Spanish language. It is a globally recognized certification granted by Instituto Cervantes in behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
The DELE examination have been designed following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) which ensures a practical and objective way of establishing standardized international measurement of proficiency level that should be achieved at every teaching stage.

GO GLOBALYou can also take advantage of our Spanish on-line Course (AVE-Aula Virtual de Español). AVE GLOBAL is Instituto Cervantes’ Spanish Virtual Classroom, an internet-based educational platform set up to provide Spanish courses for distance learning.
The following resources are available to students:
> Interactive, multimedia course materials, video recorder, audiotape, games.
> Communication tools: E-mail for sending text and voice messages, chats, forums.
> An automatic assessment system that collects data on completed exercises and to which students have access whenever required.
For the AVE GLOBAL with Tutorial programs, installing Skype and/or other apps might be a technical requirement. All online courses must be concluded within 45 days of commencement.

REQUIREMENTS AND METHODS OF PAYMENTTo enroll in any course, a duly filled-out application form should be presented to the Administration office.
Enrollment is on a first-come-first-served basis. Reservations and/or phone call transactions are not accepted.
Payments may be made in CASH and selected debit and CREDIT CARDS (MasterCard and Visa). For card payments, the amount paid must be above Php 500.00.
Exact amount for cash payments will be much appreciated. Only FULL payments will be accepted during enrollment.
DIAGNOSTIC EXAMSBefore registering for any language class in our center a diagnostic exam is required for the following cases:
> students who have studied Spanish in the past but have never studied at Instituto Cervantes.
> returning students of ICM (after one year of not taking Spanish classes)
> students with no formal Spanish language training (but can speak the language)
Diagnostic fee will apply.
The results of the diagnostic exam is final, official and for our internal use only. Validity of results is 90 days.

LEVEL EXAMPhase tests/Exámenes de etapas are given on after levels A1.3, A2.5, B1.5 and C1. If these tests are not passed, student will not be allowed to proceed to the succeeding levels.

CLASS SIZEFor the general language courses, the minimum number of students required to open a class is 8 and the maximum is 20; Instituto Cervantes reserves the right to dissolve courses when the minimum number of students is not satisfied at the end of the enrollment period.
COURSE DISCOUNT(MAXIMUM DISCOUNT PER STUDENT: 25%)
1. Senior citizen 10% A 10 percent discount applies to senior citizens, subject to presentation of valid documentation at the time of enrollment
2. Enrolling in a general and special course at the same time. 10% This discount will be given to a student who enrolls in a general language course and a 20 or 30 hour special course which both start on the same calendar month, therefore running at the same time.
3. Level Discounts 15% A 15% discount can be availed of on every fourth (4th) consecutive enrollment provided that no discount was applied in any of the previous 3 courses. All 4 courses must be taken within the same academic year to avail of this type of discount.
It is the student´s responsibility to inform the administration of their corresponding discount. Notice of the discount after the enrollment has been executed will not be honored.
Discounts are only applicable to individual courses imparted at Instituto Cervantes premises and the Saturday courses at the Ortigas Foundation Library.
