Course Code Course Title Purpose
CMA3.008 Day Make-up &
Hairstyling
Students will gain the knowledge and skills to perform a
basic skin cleansing routine and prepare the skin for
make-up application; and to create a day “look” using
basic corrective make-up and elementary hairstyling
techniques to best suit the overall look or desired result.
CMA3.009 Fashion Make-up &
Hairstyling
Students will gain the knowledge of the different aspects
of the fashion industry and to identify past, present and
future fashion trends and translate them into make-up
and hair designs. Students will gain knowledge of the
difference between work for editorial purposes and work
for catwalk purposes; and work with designer briefing
guidelines. Students will also gain the skills to produce a
portfolio.
CMA2.007 Customer Service Student will gain knowledge and skills of the service
requirements of a make-up professional, including
personal presentation and communication; and to
provide basic life support. Students will gain knowledge
of responsibilities and expectation when performing a
make-up consultation.

• Create total looks for different medias, including fashion photographic work and fashion catwalk work
• Comply with the service requirements of a professional make-up artist

• Create period inspired looks by application of make-up and hairstyling
The Certificate in Fashion Makeup Artistry contains both theory and practical components. Students will
take part in photo shoots and complete portfolios of their own work. It is recommended that student’s
attendance is 20 class contact hours per week. Extra self-directed study will be required to achieve a
pass in this certificate.
Students will be required to provide clients (and be clients for other students) for evidence collection
and practical assessments. Students will be required to meet the Make-up Artistry industry dress code.
Classroom policy requires students to wear black clothing and closed in black shoes. Students will
require access to a digital camera for self-directed study.

CMA3.010 Character & Period
Make-up Hairstyling
Students will gain knowledge of how character features
influence the face; and to gain skills to manipulate those
features by application of make-up to create a fashion
character. Students will also gain knowledge of period
looks by identifying the key factors and skills to translate
those key factors into a personal design to create a new
look.
