and founded the Ming Dynasty

5. The arrival of European traders and Christian missionaries led Ming emperors to decide to isolate China

The Qing Dynasty1. Ruled China from 1644-1911

2. Was the last dynasty in 3,500 years of imperial rule in China

3. Formed by the Manchu and won support by showing respect for Chinese customs and Confucian traditions

4. Restrictions were placed on both the Chinese and the Manchu

5. Expanded the empire by conquering Taiwan, Mongolia, and Tibet

6. Continued the Ming policy of isolation and restricted foreign trade

7. China was one of the most advanced civilizations in the world, but isolation prevented it’s further advancement
