A park is an area 'set aside for human recreation and enjoyment'. A theme park is a sort of an amusement park, but differing from an amusement park in an important fact that all the entertainment attractions share the same red line - ours being Kurenti, a carnival speciality from Ptuj.

An educational theme park has another theme; education. When we combine educational purposes with sustainability, we arrive to a conclusion of an amusement park, regionally themed and based on educating on sustainability through amusement and entertainment.

The Kurent Carnival would differ from a typical theme , contributing towards sustainable tourism and the local culture and traditions of Ptuj.

The layout of the park and its look would aim towards blending it into the image of Ptuj. uilding materials used, however, would be mainly stone, wood, sheep wool and straw, to promote green building.

An ecological aspect would be taken into the account; recycling of all trash and re-using water would be obligatory. We would promote use of public transport.

To promote outdoors entertainment, Kurent Carnival attractions would be divided into three sections; the usual mechanical 'thrill' machines as well as weekly creative recycling workshops for children and play structures similar to those found in adventure parks and playgrounds.

The market is promising.

While amusement parks are frequent and popular around the

world, there are less than half a dozen in whole Europe.

Blending such a park with sustainable purposes and education

through amusement would attract tourists around Europe and

abroad, if not even the whole world.

It would not bring only monetary profit, but also more tourists to the whole region, make Slovenia a renowned place and, most importantly, help spread knowledge about sustainability, recycling, green building and outdoor entertainment around the globe.
