IntroductionChannelingisanancientmetaphysicalscience.Althoughitenjoyedapeaklevelofacceptanceinthelate

1980sintheUnitedStates,ithasbeenaroundlongerthantheworditself.Afterthe1980s,channelingpractices

lostsomeoftheirlusterafterafewpeoplewhochanneledmadepredictionsthatdidntcometrue,butnonethe

less,channelingremainsavaluablesourceofinformationforthoseseekinganswerstothelargerquestionsinlife.Thewordchannelingisarecentinventioncomparedtothelengthoftimethatchannelinghasbeengoing

onbyothernames.Inpreviouserasitwascalledmediumship(communicationwiththedeadordisembodied

entities). The word channeling itself is not in mostdictionaries. It is not a mainstream word, yet everyone in

metaphysicalcircleshasheardthewordandhassomeideaofwhatitisabout.ThewordchannelinWebsters

dictionarycangivean ideaofwhat thewordmeans.Achannel isaconduit throughwhichanything flowsor

passes,anopenpassagethroughatubeorduct.Beingachannelforspiritmeansjustthat:allowingspirittoflow

orpassthroughyouasifyouareanemptyvessel,ortube,throughwhichspiritcanflow.

Beingachannelisanhonorforanyonewhodoesthisasapractice.Ihavedonemanychanneledsessions

inmy lifeand itwasalwaysanhonor tobepartof thisprocess. I felthonored tobeaperson involved in the

endeavortoassistothersintheirhealingandbeanopenvesselthroughwhichspiritcouldspeak.Beingachannel

isaposition

of

great

service

to

humanity.

Ibelieve

that

becoming

achannel

is

an

integral

part

of

anyones

spiritual path. A person might not call it channeling,but that is often exactly what someone is doing when

speaking truth toothers.Everyonehashad thatexperiencewhere itseems thatsomewiserbeing issaying the

wordscomingthrough,andeachofushavefoundittobeapleasantsurprise.Evenmusicians,writersandartists

havefeltthatflowthatseemstobecomingfromahighersourceratherthantheself.Itisasifbeingtouchedby

grace,andthatgracetoucheseveryoneasitflowsout.

Channeling is not limited to the spokenword.Channeling can alsobe applicable to spiritual healing.

Manyhealersandspiritualpractitionershaveexperiencedtheirguidessendinghealingenergythroughtheminto

the person they are working with on the massage table. Spiritual healing is an unacknowledged form of

channeling,butitischannelinginthetruestsense.

While science has yet to explore the phenomena of channeling in any great depth, some preliminary

experiments havebeen done with measuring thebrainwave activity during meditation itself. Using an EEG

(electroencephalograph)machine,adefinitepatternofrhythmscanbedetectedwhenyogisandmysticsreached

thedeepestpartof theirmeditationsandalteredstatesofconsciousnesswerepresent.Channels,aswell,have

displayedthesesamepatternswhenmeasuredwithanEEGmachineattheCenterForAppliedIntuitioninSan

Francisco(whichisarchivedbutnolongeractive).

WhatIsChanneling?What ischannelingandhowdoes itwork?This isaquestion that ishard toanswer.Every time Iam

askedthisquestionIhaveahardtimeansweringit.Itisdifficulttodescribewhatitisliketobeachannel.Only

directexperiencecangiveapersonatrueideaofwhatchannelingisandhow itworks.It islikedescribingthe

indescribable.BarbaraBrennansaysinherbookLightEmerging(1993),Itisnotthemetaphorofrealitythatyou

usetodescribe thisphenomenonthat is importantbuttheusefulnessofthe informationthat isgainedthrough

altered states of consciousness. Im sure, as this phenomenonbecomes more understood, we will findbetter

metaphorswithwhichtodescribeit.

SomethingsIcansay,however,isthatchannelingismuchlikeadeepsleepinwhichyouareawareof

dreams,andyouaredescribingthemasthesedreamsgoby.Whensomeoneasksaquestion,visuals,emotions,

thoughts, intuitivehits,wordsallsortsof informationappearandcome intoawareness.Sometimes there isa

delaywhiletheinformationisbeingcollectedontheinnerplanes.Whenthishappens,thereisnothingtodobut

waitfortheinformationtoformulate.Then,oncethoughtsandideasarecompletedandtheinformationisin,itis

uptothechanneltodispensetheinformation.Itismuchliketranslatingfromonelanguageintoanother.Itfeels

asifsomeoneelseisspeaking,andthewordsflowquiteeffortlessly.Iamnotawareoftheprocessoftranslating,

butsomehowmyvocabularyandknowledgeoflanguageisinvolvedintheactofdeliveringtheinformation.

TwoTypesOfChannelingTherearetwotypesofchanneling.Thefirsttypeofchannelingiscalledconsciouschanneling.Thesecond

typeiscalledunconsciouschanneling.Inconsciouschanneling,thechannelremainsconsciousofeverythingthat

issaidandreceivespictures,vibrations,feelings,images,concepts,anddirections.Aconsciouschannelmaintains

aseparatelineofconsciousnessalongsidethatoftheguide.Aconsciouschannelcanalsokeeptabsontheguide

andregulateinformationifitisneeded.Thedifficultywithconsciouschannelingisstayingoutofthewaywith

thepersonality.Thereisaveryfinelinefortheconsciouschannelwhichisimportanttounderstand.Tobeatruly

clearchannel,thepersonalitymuststayoutofthewayandnotregulateinformation.Thisisthedisadvantageof

consciouschanneling.Thebeautyofconsciouschannelingisthatthechannelerspersonalityhasachancetobaskin thedivine lightof theguidesbeingchanneled.Thiscanbeveryenhancing to spiritualgrowthandadirect

understandingofthemysteriesoftheuniverse.Atouroftheuniverseandhowitworksisoneofthebenefitsthat

goes along with being a conscious channeler. The conscious channeler becomes wise beyond human

understanding, and canbecome educated in the ways of spirit more quickly. It is healthy for the human

personalitytoexperiencethevastnessandtruthofitsbeing.

The second typeofchanneling iscalledunconscious channeling.This iswhere thechannelergoes to

sleepandthenwakesup,havingnorecollectionofwhatwassaidorwhattranspired.EdgarCaycewasafamous

unconsciouschanneler.Thebeautyofbeinganunconsciouschanneler is that thepersonalitycannotget in the

wayoftheinformation.Theinformationcomesthroughunadulterated,unaltered,andexactlythewaytheguide

wantstosayit.Theunconsciouschanneleristrulyinservicetotheguide,andthemessageremainsquiteclear.

Thedisadvantage

of

being

an

unconscious

channeler

is

that

there

is

no

recall

of

what

was

said,

there

is

no

educationaboutthemysteriesoftheuniverse,andthechannelermustreadatranscriptofwhatwassaid,orlisten

toatape,sothatheorshecanalsobenefitfromtheteachings.

Itisnotuncommonforbeginnerstobecomeunconsciouschannelers.However,astheirskillsgrowand

their ability to maintain deep meditative states for prolonged periods of time while staying alert, they soon

becomeconsciouschannelers.Iliketoencouragepeopletobecomeconsciouschannelers.Consciouschannelingis

thefasterrouteforspiritualgrowthandunderstandingthenatureofreality.Consciouschannelingbringsgreat

wisdomtothehumanmindandpersonality,moresothanunconsciouschanneling.

TranceChanneling

Manyhaveheard the termtrancechanneling. It is interchangeablewith the termchanneling.This

meansthatapersonisinatrancewhilechanneling.Atranceisnothingmorethanadeep,meditativestate.When

youare ina trance, thebookwrites itself foryou,musicwrites itself,artpaints itself,andwhateveryoudo is

effortless.Effortlessnessistheessenceofbeingintrance.Thewaytoknowifyouareinatranceisthatyouwill

suddenlyfeelasifyouhavebecomeverywise.Therewillbeashift,oraclickingofgearsinyourconsciousness.

You will feel relaxed yet very alert. There will most likelybe an absence of physical sensations, or physical

sensationswillat leastbeveryvague.Youmightfeelatingleintheneck,thetopoftheforehead,orthespine.

Youmightevenfeeltightnessaroundtheforeheadorcrownchakra.Therhythmandtoneofyourvoicemaybe

different,andyouwillbeawareofexpansionand/orcontractionofconsciousness.Sometimes,aparticularentity

willevenhaveanaccentordialectunlikeyourown.

Jon Fox describes channeling: As I go into trance, a warm sensation flows from my lowerback up

throughmyspine.Soundchanges frequencyand I feela slightpressure insidemyhead.AsHilarionenters, I

clearlysenseanalteredspace.Whenthetransitioniscomplete,Ibecomelessawareofanysensations.PenneyPeircedescribeschanneling:WhenIenteranintuitivestate,Idiffusemypersonality.Ibecome

softerand softeruntil Ibecomevery large. In that largeness Ihaveaccess toawealthof fine information that

somehowconveysitselfbackthroughmymemorypatternstomyconsciousmindwhereImreadytograspit

The signal Iuse toknow that Iam in tranceand ready for channeling is ratherunusual.First I feela

contractionasifIambecomingverysmall.Thenthereisanexplosionofexpansion,sortoflikeanatomicbomb

goingoffinmyconsciousness.IfeelasifsuddenlyIspreadoutfarandwide,andmyconsciousnessisflatand

thinaspaperspreadingacross theuniverse.Immediatelyfollowingthis isaslightheadache foramoment that

movesfrommyforeheadtothebackofmyheadandneck.Thenitisgone.Whatisleftisemptyspacethatholds

nothingbutconsciousness.This iswhenIknowIamready forchannelingand theconnectionhasbeenmade.

Eachpersonwillhavetheirownuniquesignalthatwillletthemknowwhentheyarereadytochannel.Asyou

practicewithchannelingyouwill findyourownpersonalsignal that letsyouknowwhenyouhavemade the

connectionandarereadytospeakasyourguide.

ThetechniqueIliketouseforgettingintoatranceveryquickly,andoneIdiscoveredquitebyaccidentis

whatIcallthesnoringtechnique.IamnotexactlysurehowIlearnedthis,butitisveryeffective.Allyouhaveto

doissimulatesleep!Drawthebreathingintothenose,pullitintotheforehead,snoring,andfeeltheenergygoup

overtheheadanddownthebackoftheneck.Icallthisthesnoringtechnique.

HighLevelGuideOrLowLevelGuide?Itisimportanttoworkwithonlyhighlevelguides.Thesewouldbebeingswhoarebenevolent,kind,and

haveyourwellbeinginmind.Theyhaveadeepcaringforhumanity,andasinceredesiretoassisthumanityin

raising itsconsciousness.The sameway thatyoupickyourhuman friends is theway thatyouwillpickyour

spirit friends. You pick your human friendsby how you feel around them. If you feel good around them,

enriched,andjoyful,theybecomeyourfriends.Ifyoufeeltired,depressed,unhappy,orotherwisenegative,these

peoplenormallydonotbecomeyourfriends.Thisishowyoucandeterminewhetheraguideisrightforyouor

not.Theheartalwaysknowswhat isbest,andthemind isnottheonetotrustwhenpickingspiritfriends.Let

youremotionalresponsetothesespiritguidesbeyourcriteriaforwhetherornottheyarehighlevelguidesor

lowlevelguides.

Anotherway

to

be

sure

that

you

are

choosing

ahigh

level

entity

rather

than

alow

level

entity

is

by

the

messagesthemselves.Dothesemessagesringtrue?Onlyacceptmessagesthatringtruetoyou,andiftheydonot

ringtruetoyou,thisisnottheguideforyou.

Onewaytobesureyoucanattractahighlevelguideistohaveintegrityyourself.Apersonwhooperates

from a state of nonpurity will attract similar energies. A person who lives abalanced andbenevolent life

philosophy will attract like energies. Always look at what energies you are resonating with and make

adjustmentsasyouseeyouneedtoinordertoattracthigherandhigherguidestoyourself.ZoeHagonsaysin

Channeling:TheSpiritualConnection (1988),Themost importantaspectof channels is that they shouldhavea

heartcentrethatisopenandflowingwheretheenergyistransformedintothepowerofunconditionallove,the

ChristConsciousness.

Alwaysrememberthatyouhavethepowertosayno.Youdonothavetoacceptanyguidethatyoudo

notwish toaccept.Remember thatyouare theonewhohas thebody,youare theonewho ison thephysical

plane, and no one can control you unless you let them, not even spiritualbeings. There are many levels of

spiritual entities who would like to work with people on the earth plane. Some of these entities are more

enlightenedthanothers.Itisuptoyoutobediscerningaboutwhetherornotyouwouldliketoworkwiththis

guide or that guide. Choose wisely, for you willbe that guides representative on the earth plane, and the

messagesyoudeliverwillbeofthecaliberthattheguideitselfresonatesat.

Thesearesomeguidelinestohelpyouknowwhetherthisisagoodguideforyoutoworkwithornot.

However,thereissomethingtoknowaboutguides.Inthebeginning,itiscommonthataguidecomestoyoufor

onlyashorttime.Thisguidemaytrainyouforawhile,butthenmoveonandanewguidecomesin.Itmayalso

bepossiblethatagroupofguidesspeakthroughyou.Myfirstexperiencewithchannelingwasagroupoftwelve

guides acting as one mind and one heart calling themselves Anwan (meaning In One to me). Later in my

experience itseemed that theywereagroupof1,000beingswhen Iwasable toholdmoreenergy.Then there

cameatimewhentheguidesthemselvesbecameillusionandtherewasonlytheexperienceofaveryvastempty

space.Theynolongerhadimagesorforms.Theynolongerhadnames.Theybecamerawconsciousnessandthe

vastnessofeternalself.Ikeptthenametheygavemejustforthesakeofhavinganamefortheenergy,butmy

experience of channeling became quite different as my skills grew and time went on. Now I experience

channelingasthepresenceofeternalselfratherthanindividualizedguides.Inolongerdifferentiateguidesfrom

myself.Itseemsnowthatweareallpartofthesameseaofconsciousness.Eventhepersonaskingthequestions

inachanneledsessionispartofthisvirtualseaofconsciousness.ThemoreIchanneled,themoreexpansivemy

experienceof channelingbecame. I realized that the idea ofguides and spirits is amental construct that was

necessaryinthebeginning,butasIgrewmoreaware,theneedforthementalconstructwasnolongerneeded.Inthebeginning,however,Irecommendthatyoustartwithinvitingoneguide,orperhapsasmallgroup,

foryour firstchannelings.The laterversionofmyexperiencewithchannelingwouldhaveburnedmybodys

circuits.ThiswassomethingIneeded togrow intorather thanstartwith.Youcould liken it toa110voltwire

holding220voltsofelectricity.A110voltwireisthekindofwirecomingoffyourtoaster,yourTV,oraregular

household appliance. A 220 volt wire is the kind that powers your dryer, and carries twice the amount of

electricitythana110voltwire.

Thisishowitiswithchanneling.Youwillstartasa110voltwire,andthenlateryouwillgraduatetoa

220voltwireafteryouvehadsomepracticeandhavelearnedhowtocarrythismuchenergy.Itsimplywillnot

workatthephysicallevelinthebeginning.Youcanhurtyourselfifyoutrytodotoomuchtoofast.Becominga

220voltwire takes timeandpractice.Adjustments in themental,emotionalandphysicalbodiesarenecessary

beforeyou

can

carry

220

volts

of

spiritual

energy.

It

takes

much

meditation

and

self

examination

to

be

able

to

carrythisamountofenergy.Therewillbeacertainamountofworkonopeningyourawarenesstoyourtrueself

andbecomingwhoyoutrulyare.Sostartwith110andmoveto220asyouareable.Inthisera,youwillmoveto

220 quite quickly, for the nature of reality is changing at lightspeed! Lightworkers, including channelers and

helperstohumanity,areingreatdemandandthereismuchassistanceontheinnerplanesinhelpingyoubecome

amostefficientlightworkeronthisplaneofrealityasquicklyaspossible.

HowGuidesCommunicateWithYouTheway theguidecommunicateswithyou isverysimple.Aguidehas tostepdown itsenergy,while

youstepupyourenergytomatch.Bothofyoumeet inthemiddlebetweenyour tworealities.You live inone

universe while the guide lives in another universe. Each of these universes and dimensions resonates at a

differentfrequency.Tofindacommonfrequency,youandtheguidebothmakeadjustmentssothatatranslation

ofideasandconceptscancomethroughintophysicalreality.Itismuchlikeeachofyouturningadialonaradio

untilyoufindacommonfrequencyyoucanbothresonateatandcommunicatethrough.

The guide often gives you aboost of energy when you first go into trance so that you can track the

guidesmovementsandcommunications.Thewaytheguidecommunicateswithyou isthroughtelepathy.The

guidesendsyoumessagesandyoureceivethemthroughyourowntelepathicabilities.Yourrightandleftbrain

bothoperatesimultaneouslyinordertosynthesizetheinformation.

YourRole

As

Receiver/Translator

Your roleas the receiver/translator is todeliver the informationwithasmuch correctnessaspossible,

staying true tothemessage.Youmayhavesomedecisionstomakeastowhich is therightword touse in the

delivery of various concepts. Sometimes one wordwill take preference over another that isnt quite the right

word.Donthesitatetotaketimeasyouneedtoinordertofindjusttherightwordtoconveythemeaningofthe

concept. Ifyou suddenly feeluncomfortableorcannotperceivewhat isbeinggiven toyou, simply letgoand

moveintoadifferentdirection.Ifyoufindthatyouaregettingboredwiththeinformation,thisisasignthatyou

havelosttheconnectionandtheoriginalimpulseisgone.Again,moveintoadifferentdirection.Thericheryour

experienceis,themoretheguidehastoworkwith,themoreinformationyouwillreceiveandthemessagesyou

deliverwillbetruer.

Itisalsoarequirement,betweenyourchannelingsessions,toaddressyourownspiritualhomeworkand

Channeling:TheIntuitiveConnection(1987),Inordertobeabletopullinintuitiveinformation,youneedtocreate

a tunnel or channel from the superconscious mind to the conscious core. To do this, youbasically need to

clean out or let go of enough subconscious obstaclessuch as anger,jealousy, resentment, inappropriate

beliefs,negativeattitudes,andotheraspectsof feartoallow information to flow from the superconscious to

consciousnessmoreclearlyandwithoutdistortion.Yourconsciousmindwillthengrowlargerasyourawareness

expands.

GuidesRoleAsTransmitter

The guides role as the transmitter is tobe the undercurrentbeneath your thoughts and trigger your

soulsandknowledge.Whenquestionsareaskedtheguidewilltriggercertainareasofyourmind.Theguidewill

choosethepathofleastresistanceinyourmind.Theguidealsoholdthespaceforyouwhileyouareintranceso

thatyoucanbecomeasclearaspossibleandstaythatwaythroughoutthesession.

Yourguidewillalsocommunicatewithyouwhenyouarenot intranceorsession.Thishappenswhenyourattentionissuddenlybroughttoaparticularbook,oraspecialphrasecomesintoyourmind,oryouaretold

toremembersomethingortakenoteofsomething.Yourguidebecomesanactivefriendofyours,travelingwith

youthroughoutyourdayandbecomingpartofyourlife.Yourrelationshipwiththeguideyouchannelisnota

static.Itcontinuestogrowanddevelopastimegoeson.Eventually,thisguidemaybecomeyourownvoice,and

representsyoureternalidentity.

MeetingYourGuideMeetingyourguide isanexquisiteexperience.Youwillbequiterefreshedand thrilledafteryour first

meeting.Youwillhavemuchtolookforwardtoforyouarebeginningawonderfuljourneyintoafriendshipwith

anenlightenedbeing.ThefirstmeditationonyourCDinthiscoursewillassistyouinmeetingyourguideforthe

firsttime,theoneyouwillbechanneling.Youmaybetemptedtosimplyjustsitinthelightofyourguide,rather

thandoingmuchelse.Thisisfineifthisiswhatyouwouldliketodo.Itisgoodtolearnhowtoweartheenergyofyourguideandgetcomfortablewithholdingthatmuchlightandlove.

WhatToExpectTheFirstTime

At firstyoumightnotnoticeadifferencebetweenyourselfand theguide. Itmayeven feel likejusta

highervibrationofyourself.Guidesgenerallyapproachgentlyandsoftly,anddonotwanttojoltyouorupset

you.Youmaynotrealizethatyourguideisthereatfirst.Thechangemaybesubtle.Youwillfeel,mostcertainly,

aheightenedstageofawarenessandwellbeing.

Somepeopledonoticeahugedifferenceas soonas theguideenters.Somepeopleexperienceagreat

infusionoflightandlove,andcanbarelyholdthislevelofawareness.Iftheenergybecomestoointenseforyou,

youcanasktheguidetotemperbacktheenergyalittlebituntilyougetusedtoit.

Therewillbesometrialanderrorastheguidefiguresouthowtoconnecttoyouandyoufigureouthow

toconnecttotheguide.Bepatientwiththisprocess.Yourtranslationmightnotbeaccurateatfirst,fortheguide

willbefiguringouthowtotransmittoyouinawaythatyoucanreceiveinformation,andyouwillbefiguring

outhowtoreceivetheinformationfromtheguide.Itisokayifthingsdontcomeoutrightatfirst.Youmustlearn

towalkbeforeyoucanrun.Andofcourse,practicemakesperfect!Inashorttimethiswillbeeasyandeffortless

foryou,andyouwillunderstandexactlyhowitworks.

Agoodexperimenttofindoutifyouareactuallychannelingistohavesomeoneaskyouaquestionwhen

youre not in tranceandanswer it fromyourpersonalitypointof view, thehumanperspective.Thengo into

the

same

question

of

the

guide.

Youll

notice

that

the

vibration

of

the

answer

is

higher,

and

that

the

answer mightbe completely different. Notice what the differences arebetween your human answer and the

guides answer. This will help you develop confidence in your guides ability to give messages of a higher

spiritualnature.

Anothergoodthingtorememberistorelaxthebackoftheheadandneck.Thisisaplacewherethemost

tensiongatherswhenyouareattemptingtochannel,formuchofthechannelingenergyseemstogatherbehind

theheadandneck.Justopentothisenergyandallowittoflow.

GuidesName

Theguidesnamemayormaynotcome inthebeginning.It isallrightifyoudontreceive theguides

namerightaway.Thiswillbecomeevidentlater.Theguidesdontreallycarewhatyounamethem,fortheyare

intheunderstandingofthemselvesashavingmanynamesandyetnoneatthesametime.Sometimestheygive

youanamejustforthesakeofhavinganame,sincelanguagerequiresnamingthingsinordertoidentifythem.

Sometimestheguidewillletyounamethemwhatevernameyoulike,onethatmakesyoufeelcomfortable.

Ifaguidedoesgiveyouaname,sometimesthenamecomes in lettersatvarious times.Sometimes the

name simply pops into your head while you are doing ordinary tasks during the day. Sometimes you hear

syllablesoneatatimeand laterrealizethatthis istheguidesname.Sometimesthenametheygiveyou isone

Guides will give the most profound information to those who are true seekers, or advanced on their

heorshewants them togo?Was thedecisionagoodone?Howdoes it feelnow thatheorshehasmade this

decision?Goevenfurtherintothefuture,aboutoneyear.Howdoesthischoicefeelnow?Dothiswitheachofthe

choicesnomatterhowmanythereare.Thechoicethatfeelspositiveandseemslikethebestoutcome,thisisthe

rightchoice.Anotherthingyoumightwanttothinkaboutisintroducingchoicesthatthepersonmightnothave

thoughtof.Createamysterydoor!Thismightactuallybetherightchoice,butitisnottimetomakethechoice

becausealltheinformationisnotinyet.

to

change
