Text is positioned in text frames
Graphics are positioned in graphic frames
To create text frame, click Type Tool and drag it in document window
Use Rectangle, Ellipse, or Polygon Frame Tools to create graphics frames

Used to help you align items on a page
When object is near guide object “snaps” to the guide for easy alignment
Click View on menu bar, point to Grids & Guides, then click Snap to Guides

Create manually by “pulling” them out from horizontal and vertical rulers

Guides can be selected, moved, deleted

Changing the color of guides, margins, and columns
By default, guides are cyan, columns are violet, and margins are magenta
Modify color by selecting them, click the Ruler Guides command on Layout menu
Choosing new color in Ruler Guides dialog box, only effects selected guides

Make the color changes in appropriate dialog boxes without any document open
New color will apply to all new documents

Transform panel
Identifies selected object’s width and height and horizontal and vertical location on page
X Location and Y Location values refer to the horizontal and vertical location of selected object
Zero point of page is top left corner of page by default
There are nine reference points in Transform panel that correspond to nine points available in item’s bounding box

Transform is a term used to describe the act of moving, scaling, skewing, or rotating an object
