Stage 2: Layout the Section

• Concrete slab foundation– Lay out the width of the building

– Lay out baseline for bottom of footings

– Lay out footing thickness and finish grade

– Lay out slab (4”) and fill below (4”)

– Lay out stem wall, width of footings, brick veneer ledge and interior footings

Stage 2: Layout the Section

• Wall Layout– Locate top of the top plates 8’-0” above floor

– Locate interior side of exterior walls

– Locate interior walls

– Make sure interior walls line up over a footing

– Lay out headers for doors and windows

• Wall Layout– Lay out subsills based on the window size

– Lay out 7’0” ceilings for soffit

– Lay out patio post width and height

– Repeat these procedures for the upper floor
