HalogenationO 0235 A Highly Chemoselective and Rapid Chlorination of Benzyl Alcohols under Neu-

tral Conditions. The chlorination of benzylic and cinnamic alcohols uses cyanuric chloride under virtually neutral conditions. The method allows a highly selective ben-zylic chlorination in the presence of aliphatic alcohols or even unprotected carbohy-drates. Chiral benzylic alcohols react with inversion of configuration.
