49 - 069A Highly Efficient and Convenient Method for the Direct Conversionof Alkyl THP Ethers into the Corresponding Alkyl Benzyl Ethers.— Tetrahydropyranyl ethers are converted by a new one-step method into thecorresponding benzyl ethers by treatment with benzaldehydes and Et3SiH inthe presence of TmsOTf as Lewis acid catalyst in excellent yields.
