der Weakly Basic Conditions. — A new method for the Pd-catalyzed direct oxidative vinylation of thiophene and furan derivatives (III) and (VII) is presented which pro-ceeds under mildly basic conditions. The reaction tolerates acid-labile groups like diphenyl(hydroxy)methyl and acetal groups which are useful for further transforma-tions [cf.
