2008 Thiophene derivatives R 0090 Palladium-Catalyzed Direct Oxidative Vinylation of Thiophenes and Furans un- der Weakly Basic Conditions. — A new method for the Pd-catalyzed direct oxidative vinylation of thiophene and furan derivatives (III) and (VII) is presented which pro- ceeds under mildly basic conditions. The reaction tolerates acid-labile groups like diphenyl(hydroxy)methyl and acetal groups which are useful for further transforma- tions [cf.
