Chest Drain & NeedleDecompression TrainerPart No: 60230

This brand new Limbs & Things simulator has been designed to meet the specific requirements of healthcare professionalstraining in surgical or guidewire assisted thoracostomy andthoracentesis. This product, using interchangeable pads, allowsfor a variety of chest drain insertion techniques to be performedincluding ultrasound-guided techniques.

Skills• Needle decompression of tension pneumothorax• Ultrasound-guided chest drain insertion (Seldinger-type),

including insertion of needle under direct vision, andultrasonic recognition of chest structures

• Open, or cut-down chest drain insertion: recognition ofcorrect position, surgical incision, blunt dissection throughchest wall, perforation of pleura, and finger sweep

• Suture of tube to chest wall

Features• Representation of adult male thorax with arms raised• Suitable for supine, sitting, or leaning forwards positions• Bony and soft tissue landmarks: manubriosternal joint,

clavicles, ribs, pectoralis major and latissimus dorsi• Bilateral chest drain and needle decompression pads• Internal ultrasound anatomy: diaphragmatic structures and

collapsed lung• Can give the impression of breathing under ultrasound when

using the Advanced Pad• Works with thoracic seals when using the Standard Pad• Reservoirs can be filled with fluid or mock blood to represent

pleural effusion• Needle decompression air reservoirs provide realistic release of

air on insertion of needle• Affordable replaceable pads

Package supplied Part No• 1 Needle Decompression Pads (Pack of 2) 60231• 1 Advanced Chest Drain Pads (Pack of 2) 60232• 1 Standard Chest Drain Pads (Pack of 2) 60234• 1 Chest Drain Ribs (Pack of 12) 60240• 1 Torso• 1 Carry case

Ultrasound GuidedThoracentesis Strap-onSimulatorPart No: KKMW4A

The new Ultrasound Guided Thoracentesis Simulator featureswearable puncture units that facilitate hybrid training, includinginteraction with patients.

There are two types of puncture units: mid-scapular line accessand mid-axially line access. Both units include ribs, soft tissue, pleura, lung and diaphragm. The ribs can be palpated from thesurface to determine site for needle insertion. Volume of theeffusion can be controlled.

Skills• Patient positioning• Recognition of anatomical landmarks by ultrasound• Assessment of level and volume of pleural effusion• Determination of insertion site• Needle insertion and collection of the fluid

Features• Strap-on puncture units provide effective learning of patient

positioning and communication• Two sites for access:

- right mid-scapular line- left mid axial line

• Excellent ultrasound image• Anatomy includes: ribs, pleura, soft tissue and diaphragm• Volume of pleural effusion can be controlled to set different

levels of challenges• Realistic needle-tip resistance and sensation when the needle

penetrates the pleura• Explanation model to facilitate anatomical understanding• Ribs can be palpated• Self sealing material• Latex free

Package supplied• 1 mid-scapular line unit• 1 mid-axial line unit• 1 set of accessories (1 plastic jar, 1 tube with three-way,

1 50ml syringe, 1 funnel)• 1 instruction manual
