Students may select subjects at 3 different levels of study : Higher 1 (H1), Higher 2 (H2) and Higher 3 (H3)
The norm is for students to offer three H2 and one H1 content-based subjects, one of which is a contrasting subject.
Students must offer General Paper, MT and Project Work, which is at H1 level.
Students who have the passion for a particular subject and have the time to go beyond the norm may offer additional H1/H2 subjects or up to two H3 subjects.
Total no. of subjects = 7 (3H2 + 4H1)

• DSA – JC Exercise commences in Term 3, Wk 1.
• Students admitted via the DSA-JC Exercise will have to meet the criteria for admission to a JC, for example their GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent results must meet the prevailing JC admission eligibility criteria.
Direct School Admission (DSA - JC)
• Each JC will admit students according to its own merit-based admission criteria (academic and/or non-academic criteria), based on the students’ personal qualities and the areas of focus (such as leadership, science, music, sports) that the JC would like to emphasise.
Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA)
• The Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA) Exercise commences in July.
• The DPA Exercise gives the polytechnics greater flexibility to select students on criteria other than GCE 'O'-Level results.
Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA)
• For the DPA Exercise, the polytechnics will take into account students’ abilities, talents and interests in the specific courses that they are applying for.
• For example, a student’s passion and talents in film and video production would be considered when he applies through the DPA for a polytechnic course in Media Studies.
Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA)
• To ensure that students admitted through DPA will be able to cope with the rigours of a polytechnic education, applicants will also have to meet the prevailing polytechnic admission criteria.
Direct Polytechnic Admission (DPA)
• The DPA Exercise also allows students who are interested in, and who have the aptitude for applied learning, to confirm places in polytechnic courses prior to taking their GCE ‘O’-Level examinations.
• Students accepted to polytechnics through the DPA can also benefit from special programmes in the polytechnics, before the start of the formal polytechnic classes in April.
