Admissions Policy

• To offer admission to students of the highest intellectual ability and potential, irrespective of social, racial, religious and (for UK students) financial considerations

• Through common selection procedures, we strive to ensure that applicants are:

• individually assessed without bias

• equally successful, regardless of which Cambridge College they apply to

What are we looking for?

• Passion for chosen subject

• Ability to think independently, critically and analytically

• Enthusiasm for complex and challenging ideas

• Motivation, commitment and organisation

• Vocational or professional commitment, where appropriate

Information used in selection

We treat each applicant as an individual, and consider:

• Academic record― GCSE (or equivalent) results

― AS levels (including UMS unit scores)

― Predicted/actual A level (or equivalent) grades

• Personal statement

• School or college reference

• Submitted written work, if requested

• Test results, where required (BMAT, TSA, CLT)

• Performance at interview

Standard Offer

• The standard A level conditional offer is A*AA. The subject in which the A* is to be achieved is not usually specified

• The standard IB conditional offer is 40 – 42 points

• Colleges can, and do, modify offers (up or down!) to take account of individual circumstances
