WEEKLY STEWARDSHIP REPORT

June 9, 2019 Pentecost Sunday

The Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father

will send in my name, will teach you everything

and remind you of all that I told you.

John 14:26

The materialism of our society lures us to

concentrate more on what we want than on what

God wants for us. The relativism of our world tells

us that we should be tolerant of all things, that

there is no absolute truth. Pray to the Holy Spirit to

transform our lives and to guide our thoughts,

words and actions.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTIONS

palabras y acciones.

RESPECT LIFE MINISTRY

During this time of year, many of you

are out of town. When you return,

you faithfully want to make up for the

Sundays missed and write a separate

check for each of those Sundays. We

are sincerely grateful for your

consistent support. We want you to

know you do not need to write a

check for each Sunday, but are

welcome to write just one check for

the total andsave your checks!

Other ways to save your checksis to

sign up for electronic giving from

your bank or credit card and then you

do not have to be concerned about

missing a donation. We want you to

know we are grateful to those that

continue to support our parish even

when they are not present. It sustains

us during the leaner summer months

and all year. Please call the office

if you have questions about electronic

giving or any way we can help you.

NEW PASTORAL COUNCIL MEMBERS

Michael Kelly

I have spent the last 20 years in

sales leadership and operations

with various size organizations. I

have been on the Board for Make a

Wish, Habitat for Humanity, and I

was a Big Brother when I first

moved to Austin.

I have attended several parishes

since moving to Austin over 20

years ago, but this feels so much

like home. The staff, priests and

parishioners make it a wonderful

experience. I would like to help

expand on those efforts to grow

our faith community.

Tammie Rucker

I have attended and directed several

women's CRHP groups and continue to

facilitate events for Welcome. I have

taught Religious Education, grades K

12, over the years. I have been involved

with the Journey Middle School

program for several years. I worked

with middle school girls in a summer

program called Verses for your Purses. I

lead members of the Bright Horizons

group in exercise each week. I have

been involved with Fall Fest, Gala,

Bingo and other social gatherings at

Emmaus. I am an Eucharistic Minister.

I am super enthusiastic about my faith

and would love to serve the good people

of our parish.

Jake Dominguez

My desire is to serve, humbly and

faithfully. I have had the

opportunity to serve in previous

parishes on the Pastoral Council,

Finance Council, Stewardship

Committee and Building

Committees. I formed the first Junior

and Senior continuing education

program for teens after confirmation

at a 5000 family parish, Christ the

Redeemer in Cypress, Texas. I have

always had a passion for our youth

and introducing them into the

richness and beauty of our faith. My

sincere hope is to bring the best

lessons I have learned in service to

our Church in support of Fr. Samuel,

his staff and his goals for our parish.

ADVERTISE in our BULLETIN!

Please contact Tina Watson with LPi, Inc., at 5124319413

or email to [email protected]. THANK YOU!

"God is always more." Have you

ever heard that? If we truly believe

that He is infinite, then this

statement is worth exploring.

Today, we celebrate the coming of

the Holy Spirit in power upon the

early Church. But Pentecost was

not the first time the disciples

received the Holy Spirit. The

Gospel actually occurs

chronologically before Pentecost.

Soon after the Resurrection, Jesus

already "came and stood in their

[the disciples'] midst... he breathed

on them and said to them, 'Receive

the Holy Spirit.'"

God is always more. Sometimes we

might think the grace of God as one

and done. God might break through

in people's lives, but it is a onetime

event on a retreat or preceding a

dramatic conversion of life. But

there is always more to come. Even

today's Gospel is not the first time

the breath of God stirred. In

Genesis, it is God's breath that stirs

life into Adam in the garden. Jesus

breathes on the Apostles, giving

them the Holy Spirit in the quiet

and silence. Later, that breath will

stir into a "driving wind", and the

Spirit will descend with flame...not

unlike Moses on Mount Sinai.

God is always more. He has spoken

throughout salvation history, and

continues to speak into our lives

through His Church and through

the Holy Spirit alive in our hearts.

This Pentecost Sunday, let us come

before Him with expectant hearts!

Let us await the more

that God will do!
