To enter the Nativity Church at Bethlehem one must crouch through a tiny door. The great entrance was blocked up to stop bandits on horseback who would rob the precious vessels. Christmas calls us to come off our high horses and to bend low. Discover the child who is God. Discover also our lost innocence and our dependence on God. 1. 4th Sunday of Advent Mass: on 24th December there is a joint morning Mass held at Holy Spirit Church at 10.00am that replaces the usual morning Masses at Our Lady of Sorrows and Holy Spirit.

2. Christmas Mass Offerings: Our Christmas Mass offering is our gift to Father John for all the hard work he does on our behalf. If you wish to donate by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Parish of Effingham and Fetcham’ not to Father John. The Christmas Mass offerings are eligible for Gift Aid by parishioners who belong to the Parish Gift Aid scheme, please use the purple Gift Aid envelopes available in the church porch with your name or postcode on it, as Gift Offerings without an identifying name/postcode cannot be entered on the Parish GiftWise system. Visitors from other parishes, please use the yellow one-off envelopes with your name and address.

3. Crib Collections: The Bishop has asked that this money be dedicated to the newly established Diocesan Crisis Fund that will provide one-off emergency grants to families in our Diocese who are facing a crisis in their lives.

4. Christmas Week Masses: please note there will be no Mass on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th December.

5. Eucharistic Adoration: Please note that there will be no Adoration in the week after Christmas. Adoration will recommence on Tuesday 2nd January.

6. Diocesan Directories 2018: are now available at the back of each Church priced £5 each. Please put money in the Newspaper box. These Directories are a valuable source of information about the Diocese.
