John May is a council worker whose job is to fi nd the next of

Towards the end of World War ii, people in big cities are at the
mercy of air raids and death by starvation. A desperate young
mother leaves her 13-year-old twin sons at their grandmothers house

in their new, rural surroundings. They realise that the only way to
cope with the absurd and inhumane world of adults and war is to

themselves from hunger, pain and emotion, they will be able to

they fortify their spirits by reading the Bible and learning
foreign languages. They practice every day to harden their bodies

paul Averhoff was once a great marathon runner, a legend, and

name by Franz Kafka, which has never previously been adapted for fi
lm. it tells the story of a man in his prime who, having seemingly
achieved eve-rything, has entrenched himself in his burrow, a
fortress-like apartment complex. But no matter how hard he tries to
ignore it, there it is: the world outside.Surveillance cameras
should ensure his safety and security, but the nightmare outside
