FELLOWSHIP

Interventional Radiology Visiting Fellowship Program-The Dotter Interventional Institute a t Oregon Health Sciences University offers short- term (one-two week) visiting fellowships in interventional radiology. These fel- lowships are designed to encompass the entire spectrum of interventional radiol- ogy, including both vascular and non- vascular procedures. Programs are tai- lored to each visiting fellow's needs, abil- ities and interests, and are suitable for both general radiologists and those with extensive experience in interventional procedures. Each fellow is assigned to a faculty mentor who arranges a personal- ized instructional program that should maximize the fellow's educational expe- rience. Eleven full-time faculty are available for informal and formal didac- tic teaching sessions, and are able to give individualized attention to clinical, procedural, and technical questions. In addition, fellows can elect to have super- vised "hands-on" training in the Dotter Research Laboratory, covering such areas as TIPS, embolization techniques, angioplasty and nonvascular interven- tions. The Dotter Institute operates five angiography suites providing clinical services to an extensive medical complex representing 850 beds. The Dotter Research Laboratory is a state-of-the- art facility that includes two additional angiography suites, an extensive teach- ing film collection, instructional video tape and video disk collections, a library, and a museum of interventional radiolo- gy. Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology-The Dept. of Radiology of the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center (HUP) has an unexpected opening in its 6 fellow ACGME accredited program starting July 1, 2000. Fellows perform the entire spectrum of Vascular and Interventional procedures including Arteriography, Arterial Interventions, Biliary proce- dures, Interventional GU and GI, and a wide variety of Dialysis and Venous Access procedures. State-of-the-art interventions such as Aortic Stent- Grafts, TIPS, Uterine Fibroid emboliza- tion, and Chemoembolization are inte- gral to our practice, as are CTA and MRA. Typically there are two residents, 2 medical students, and a vascular access PA on the service a t HUP. We also utilize the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the Veterans Medical Center of Philadelphia, and the Presbyterian Hospital (a part of the UPMC) for training and clinical prac- tice.
