Responsible for all aspects of management and library operations, including
staffing (9 faculty and 12 staff), budget and collection development and maintenance.

Responsible for the management and operation of a full service archives and
special collections department (approximately 5,600 linear feet) which includes a large
senatorial collection, manuscript collections, university archives, historic photograph
collections, rare book collections, regional book collections, and genealogy collections.
Supervise full-time professional and Civil Service positions, and part-time student
assistants.
Responsibilities:
*Reference service which includes in-house, phone, mail and email requests.
*Develop, monitor, and update archive and special collections goals, policies and
procedures.
*Establish and monitor security/preservation/disaster procedures.
*Consult with faculty to make available resources which support their respective
courses.
*Solicit and maintain positive relationships with donors and prospective donors.
*Select and appraise special collections material.
*Actively promote the resources available in archives and special collections.
*Solicit and coordinate alternative funding.
*Oversee daily scheduling, work flow, and assignments.
*Process and maintain new and existing donations.
*Create and provide finding aids, indexes, and inventories.
*Conduct tours of archives for various groups.
*Keep statistical records.
*Prepare exhibits for Ellender Room display area.
*Reserve and host special events in the Ellender Room.

monitoring records retention schedules for each department at the University.
Responsible for monitoring and approving records disposal requests for each department.

Assistant Cataloger, Assistant Professor, Ellender Memorial Library, Nicholls State
University.
As assistant cataloger, my responsibilities included cataloging and classification
of incoming material. One of my main duties was to reclassify books already in the
collection according to the changes that have been provided by the Dewey Decimal
Classification schedules. Maintenance of the on-line catalog was also performed in
conjunction with the cataloging process. While in the department, I supervised two
student assistants.
August 1998-June 2001
Reference Librarian, Ellender Memorial Library, Nicholls State University.
Responsibilities included: reference service, bibliographic instruction, online
searches utilizing the library catalog/indexes and databases, collection development for
Culinary and Family and Consumer Science Departments, some circulation/reserve
duties, evaluating the reference collection for weeding, and assisting in other departments
when needed. I was also in charge of the library during the evening hours.
July 1995-August 1998
Library Associate II, Serials Department, Ellender Memorial Library, Nicholls State
University.
Responsibilities included: supervisor of the Serials Department and student
workers during the evening hours, serials reference service, head of bindery for all library
departments, preparing $20,000 budget for library bindery, handling all missing issue
claims, working with the cataloging department to set up all new journal titles, and
routine assignments such as check-in of journals and magazines, maintenance/mending of
collection, and keeping daily statistics.

the Society’s annual History and Genealogy seminar in the Fall. It entails
booking the event site, solicting speakers, coordinating the program,

I composed and distributed to the Society’s members.)

(As chair of this committee, I locate historic sites throughout
the parish, gather research on particular sites, help to compose the text for
each marker or plaque, as well as help to arrange the dedication
ceremonies)
Chair, Historic Preservation Committee, 2002-present
(Each year, this committee distributes several awards to local homeowners
and business owners who have restored historic buildings. The committee
visits each site to document and photograph the building and its history.
The committee then prepares a report on the research gathered which is
presented to the owner and the Nicholls Archives. Once a year, the
committee plans and hosts a reception honoring the recipients. This
committee also presents a local historic architecture program by request.
This program has been offered at summer camps as well as the Nicholls
State University Jubilee event. Some of these programs are offered with
walking tours of various communities.)

Lafourche Heritage Day. In addition, the Friends Board plans and hosts many
other events to raise preservation funds and awareness of the site.)
Lafourche Parish Bicentennial Celebration, March 2007
As Archivist for Nicholls State University, I was called upon to help with the
planning of several historic exhibits for the 200th
anniversary of the parish. This
included researching several collections to find historic photographs and materials
for display purposes. Each community in the parish prepared an exhibit, and
many people borrowed material from the Archives. I also prepared exhibits on
the history of Nicholls State University and on the history of the Vacherie-Gheens
community for the event. In addition, I prepared a large exhibit on the history of
the parish in the Archives at Nicholls.
