El modismo: Go onSe habrn fijado en la frase go onrepetida varias veces en la cancin.

No significa: ir encima como parecedecir. Significa: seguir, continuar operdurar como el amor eterno.

Es un modismo, y de esto se trata lapresentacin de hoy.

Qu son los modismos?

Los modismos son frases que no sepueden traducir literalmente.

Tienen un significado muy particulardentro de la cultura.

Tambin se llaman frases

idiomticas.

Caractersticas de modismosSon metafricos; es decir, quecomparan una cosa con otra.

Utilizan partes del cuerpo pararepresentar otras ideas.

Utilizan colores para representarestados de nimo o existencia.

A veces comparan laconducta o la aparienciade los seres humanos alas de los animales.

Ms caractersticasEn ingls, a menudo los modismos son verbos

frasales, es decir, verbos compuestos de un

verbo comn vinculado a una preposicin (por

ej., get by, get over, get in with, get through, get

along).

Estas construcciones adquieren su propio

significado que a veces es bastante lejano del

significado original de las partes.
