ASTeC Funded Work Packages (3 year)

1. Collimation (ASTeC/Lancaster)• wake field simulations + experiments• £500k (inc RA)

2. Temporal Profile (ASTeC/Abertay)• electro-optic developments (+ small SP support)• ultrafast laser for tests• £600k (inc RA)

3. Advanced BPMs (ASTeC/Cambridge/UCL)• use in high precision spectrometry• £250k (inc RA)

4. Access to Test Beams at SLAC (All groups)

• £100k support costs on ESA

NB CCLRC also funds international advisory panel and travel administration

Long Term Investment Priorities

• Sustainable skill base

• Funding of prototypes

• Integrated SRF design/construction/testing facility

• Build and operate e-FFAG Model (on ERLP)

• Construct e and p Accelerator Test Facilities (DL + RAL)

• Ramp up R&D funding prior to Capital Facility

NB All of these involve HEI collaboration and cross-Council interests


Proposed SRF Technology Initiative

• Maturity and applicability of superconducting RF systems• including 4GLS and ILC - potential major UK role

• Demanding superconducting RF infrastructure

• Integrated design, build and test (HP) - nowhere in Europe !

• Collaboration • ASTeC/HEIs/Industry/Faraday Partnership/NWDA

• Exploit Daresbury infrastructure
