Articulation Agreement between
Long Island Unhrersity at Riverhead and
Suffolk County Community College
This articulation agreement confirms that Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) students completing the Associate in Arts degree in Communications Studies will be able to transfer with junior status into the Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies- New Media at Long Island University at Riverhead (LIU Riverhead). Credits from the A.A. degree at SCCC will transfer to LIU and apply to the B.A. program according to the course equivalency table on the attached sheet.
SCCC students who transfer directly into the LIU Riverhead B.A. in Communication Studies -New Media degree upon successful completion of the SCCC A.A. degree program in Communications Studies are awarded transfer scholarships, the values of which are dependent the student's cumulative grade point average.
This articulation agreement is effective beginning with the fall2013 semester. It will be reviewed each year and amended if changes occur in either school's programs. SCCC will provide students presently in its programs with all information pertaining to this agreement, will list LIU Riverhead in any publication that refers to articulation agreements, and will allow LIU Riverhead to visit SCCC at least once during each semester.
We look forward to a fruitful period of cooperation in this positive endeavor to serve our students and institutions.

Memorandum of Understanding
between
Long Island University at Riverhead
and
Suffolk County Community College
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is hereby made and entered into by and between Long Island University at Riverhead (LIU Riverhead) and Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) to establish a framework for students to seamlessly transfer from SCCC to an upper division bachelor of arts program in Communication Studies- New Media (B.A. in Communication Studies- New Media). This educational partnership will broaden the higher education academic opportunities for students from Eastern Long Island.
I. Applicability
This MOU applies only to academic programs at Long Island University at Riverhead. It is not applicable to other campuses of Long Island University.
II. Curricular Agreements

LIU Riverhead will accept towards the B.A. in Communication Studies- New Media, all courses from SCCC's A.A. degree in Communication Studies. This includes the direct transfer of SCCC's COM 201, Introduction to Communication Theory, for LIU Riverhead's CMA 320, New Media Literacies, and SCCC's COM 206, Advanced Interpersonal Communication, for LIU Riverhead's CMA 280, Interpersonal Communication in the Digital Age.
'""'"'"'.'"' must an earned to into the Riverhead B.A. in Communication Studies New Media program. An SCCC student may be provisionally accepted prior to completing his/her associate degree; however, he/she may not register for classes at LIU Riverhead until the associate degree is awarded.
applicants must have a minimum grade point average 2.50 to be accepted the New Media program at LIU Riverhead.
IV. Joint Admissions
With this MOU, LIU Riverhead and SCCC will have established a Joint Admissions Agreement under which a student is admitted to SCCC and LIU Riverhead at the time he/she is accepted at SCCC. These students will follow an SCCC curriculum as set forth above which will facilitate enrollment at LIU Riverhead upon completion of the SCCC associate degree. SCCC applicants must, however, satisfy the Admission Requirements set forth above, to be accepted into the LIU Riverhead B.A. in Communication Studies- New Media program.
