What it is:A form of persuasive writing that involves

having an opinion and using examples, facts, and statistics to convince your audience.

When we use it: ALL THE TIME! Business emails (raises, cover letters, sales)Friends and family (understanding one another:

Short Essay #1

Bring draft to class next Sunday, February 26. We will work on the essay for most of class, so it is important to have your ideas ready to discuss.

Assignment: We’ve looked at two different opinions on health care: personal responsibility and public/government responsibility. In a 700-1100 word essay, form an opinion about who is responsible for our health. Use at least one essay (Balko or Zinc.) to support your ideas or to use to refute. Be sure to use important quotes from the reading.
