*Prayer of Confession
Leader: When we cannot do it, God can! Anything and everything - our messes, the hurts we inflict on others, the way we stand around when we could be helping - God can renew, reshape, restore us. That is how much God loves us, this is why God calls to us to come and be healed. Join me as we pray to our God, saying,
ALL: Gracious and holy God, we admit that it is easier to have pain-causing words on our lips, than praise for another. Our foolishness often keeps us from seeing the deep hurts and hunger of the suffering who are around us. We stand by the side of the road, afraid to step forward in faith, afraid to trust that you are with us, afraid to cry out for healing and hope.
We are not people who repent in ashes and dust, but we do know we need your mercy, and ask that you forgive our faithlessness, our fears, our hurts. Healer of all people, we lift our hearts and souls to you, that through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we might find your grace, discover your love, and serve your people in your name.

We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel.
Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

Youth Announcements
Children in Pre-k-5th grade will be leaving for Sunday School and can be picked up in Calvin Hall following service.
Children in grade 6,7 & 8, will be leaving w/ the Sunday School chil-dren and will be meeting for the youth Bible study called “Breakfast Club.” They will meet with Buzzy in the Bells Room, also known as the Lorri Lesso McGinnis Room, during service.
This Sunday is Bible Sunday. Children in 3rd grade and those 4th graders who did not receive a bible last year will be given bibles during service this week. If you have a child that age and cannot attend service that day, please inform the CE director, Gretchen Kolecki.
The children were given collection boxes for Unicef last Sunday. Please encourage them to trick or treat with their collection boxes. If you did not yet get a collec-tion box or if you need another, please see Gretchen
Kolecki for one. For more info, please go to trickortreatforunicef.org.

Read Through the Bible - This new program is a
great way to work our way through the Bible to-
gether. Just a few minutes a day can open up a
new understanding of God’s word. Each Sunday,
there will be a weekly reading schedule listed.
There will more explanations of the passages on
the CPC web site (www.collingswoodpres.com). Also, you are wel-
come to attend the Sunday morning Bible Study at 9:00 am in the
lounge to discuss the passages and their meaning to us today. Study
guides will be available in the narthex and also posted on the CPC
website.

What’s Happening at CPC this week?
A Child’s Journey By Sarah C. Sumner
As parents, we assume many responsibilities, but none is more im-
portant than introducing our children to Christ and being very in-
tentional about the formation of their faith selves. The basic goal in
every family is to move from infancy to adulthood, not just in body
and intellect, but also in soul. Children may have a childlike faith,
but our goal is not to wind up with a childish faith. We want to rear
mature Christians, equipped to be faithful adults.
For all ages, we urge a high commitment to attendance in worship
and Sunday School. But whether you come to Church or not may
not be as important as how you come. If you are stressed, rushed,
and conflicted, you unwittingly send a negative message about God
to your child; so plan to make Sunday an enjoyable morning,
allowing time for whatever might erupt, and find ways to make it a
rewarding activity.
Together
we light
the way Some might say it was the most humble of jobs, but life in early
America would not have been the same without the town Lamp-
lighter. His job began before dusk. Starting at one end of Main Street,
he would go from post to post, lighting the lamps that would show
the townspeople the way. As darkness settled in, you could follow
his steps until the Lamplighter became just a faint shadow in the dis-
tance. Soon he would fade from sight completely, but you could tell
where he had been by the lamps lighted.
This is what stewardship is all about. When you follow the footsteps
of Christ in the way you live, people will know where you have been
by the lamps you have lighted. We have no higher calling than to be
a lamplighter. Also we can better understand the difference between
a world centered point of view :
The world looks at the lamp. God looks at the lamplighter. You
can’t go wrong choosing God’s side.
