Call to Worship Leader: God has called us to this place. People: What do you see? Leader: We see people who model for us People: God's joyous embrace of all people. Leader: God has brought us to this place. People: What do you hear? Leader: We hear God's hope that we are able to see each person as our sister or brother. People: God has challenged us to open our lives and hearts to others. Leader: What will you do? People: We will do only one thing: Leader: Welcome everyone in God's name!
*Hymn - “To God Be the Glory” PH #485 *Prayer of Confession
Leader: They are there in the Bible: men and women who are as
weak, as foolish, as prone to sin as we are. Every page,
every story reveals to us our brokenness. Yet every page,
every story tells us of the One who longs to make us
whole. Let us confess our sins, and clear the way for
God's reconciling love to work within us, Please join me,
as we pray,
ALL: In the mirror we call scripture, Revealing God, we see
ourselves for who we are and are not. We whine about
those who are not doing what we think they should,
and ignore our failings. We speak words which nibble
away at the life in our family and friends. We step over
the poor on our way to get more and more, ignoring
their needs.
You take notice of how quickly we can overlook those
who hunger for their empty hearts to be filled; those
who long for a family to welcome them; those who
thirst for that relationship which will revive their
souls.
Forgive us, Reconciling Love. Sit us down at Jesus' feet,
so we may learn the balanced life you intend for us.
Then, and only then, we can set aside our grudges, to
offer our gifts to our neighbors; we can bring healing
to others; we can reach out and welcome our sisters
and brothers, even as we have been fed and healed
through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Silence is kept.
*Words of Assurance Leader: Christ Jesus comes to reconcile us to God, so we can be reconciled to one another. Recreated in God's image, we are made whole. When we are in Christ, everything becomes new. Our past is just that - our past!
People: Do you really believe this - that your past is done, and
you are a new person? If so, go out and reflect it in
your life. Thanks be to God! We will go forth and live
as reconciled people. Amen.
*Response - “Lord, Listen to Your Children Praying” STF #2193
Lord, listen to your children praying, Lord, send your Spirit in this place; Lord, listen to your children praying, send us love, send us power, send us grace.
*Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith - PCUSA Brief Statement of Faith
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus
proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor
and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and
blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the
brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and
calling all to repent and believe the gospel.
Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was
crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his
life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the
dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and
evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.
Offering Throughout our lives we have depended on the generosity of others:
parents, friends, teachers, church leaders, strangers. In many expected and unexpected ways God has provided for us, and we
have been blessed. Now we can show our gratitude by sharing our abundance, even to the extent of suffering if need be, that our
sisters and brothers may be rescued and given life.
Musical Offering
* Doxology - PH #592
“Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.”
* Prayer of dedication
Prayers of the People
Leader: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. (Prayers of intercession, petition, and the Lord’s Prayer.)
All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Please join us in the Dining Room for refreshment and to greet the new members!

“A Prayer for Summer”
In the mist languishing over a lake,
in the shadows crawling across the lawn;
in the boisterous teenagers cannon-balling into the pool,
In the sounds of crickets and Cicadas that orchestrate the night,
in the sweet breath of a baby cooling our cheeks;
in the elegiac stories of grandparents around the dinner table,
in the giggling of children sharing a secret;
in our rising to new life each morning,
in the comforting arms of sleep;
in the healing taste of Christ's brokenness,
in the Cup's tart tang of grace;
in all these, and so many more,
we are blessed with the richness of your glory in our lives,
and offer our thanks to you, O Lord our Creator and Redeemer.
Amen
