ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME

Silent Prayer

We rejoice in You, O Lord, and bring You our praises. Your mercies are

new every morning; daily You put a new song in our hearts.

Everywhere we look we see evidence of Your love and faithfulness. We

stand in holy awe as we consider Your wonderful works of creation.

Call to Worship

Leader: We come, for God gathers us here,

with that community called faith:

People: where the hungry are served first,

where the thirsty drink life's water.

Leader: We come, for God welcomes us here

into that home called grace:

People: where the naked are clothed in robes of hope;

where the stranger is embraced as the long-lost prodigal.

Leader: We come, for God reunites us here,

sisters and brothers in that family called love:

People: where the imprisoned model justice,

where the sick are cradled in God's peace.

*Hymn - STF #2220 “We Are God’s People” verses 1-3

*Prayer of Confession

People: O God, we confess the blindness that is not even

aware of sinning; the pride that dares not admit that it

is wrong; the selfishness that can see nothing but its

own will; the righteousness that knows no fault; the

callousness that has ceased to care; the defiance that

does not regret its own sins; the evasion that always

tries to make excuses; the coldness of heart that is too

hardened to repent.

God, we are sinners; be merciful to us.

*Words of Assurance:

Leader: God proves his love for us in that while we still were

sinners Christ died for us. Hear then Christ's word of

grace: Our sins are forgiven.

*Congregational Response - STF#2207

“Lord, listen to your children singing” (sing three times)

*Sharing the Peace of Christ

Leader: Since Christ has opened his heart to us,

let us open our hearts to one another, and God will be

glorified. The peace of Christ be with you.

People: And also with you.

PROCLAIM GOD’S WORD

(Children in Pre-K - 5th grade will leave for Sunday School.)

*Hymn - PH#367 “Jesu,Jesu, Fill Us with Your Love”

Gospel Lesson: Matthew 25:31-40 (904)

Sermon: “God’s Work - Our Hands”

Rev. Dr. Katherine G. Killebrew and Amy Henderson Riley

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

*Affirmation of Faith - From the Catechism of the PCUSA

Leader: What is the mission of the church?

People: The mission of the church is to bear witness to God's

love for the world in Jesus Christ.

(continues on next page)

Leader: What forms does this mission take?

People: The forms are as various as the forms of God's love,

yet the center is always Jesus Christ. The church is

faithful to its mission when it extends mercy and

forgiveness to the needy in ways that point finally to

him. For in the end it is always by Christ's mercy that

the needs of the needy are met.

Leader: Who are the needy?

People: The hungry need bread, the homeless need a roof, the

oppressed need justice, and the lonely need

fellowship. At the same time — on another and deeper

level — the hopeless need hope, sinners need

forgiveness, and the world needs the gospel. On this

level no one is excluded, and all the needy are one.

Our mission as the church is to bring hope to a

desperate world by declaring God's undying love — as

one beggar tells another where to find bread. The Offerings

Our discipleship is revealed in our love for one another, and our love is made known in the opening of our hands to share God’s

good gifts. We are witnesses to God’s care for all creation through our offerings. Let us give generously, as God gives to us.

Offertory - “Wade In the Water” - Fred Heuser-guitar *Doxology *Prayer of Dedication

Please join us in the lounge for coffee and fellowship time.

Prayers of the People Leader: The Lord be with you People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. Prayers of Praise, Thanksgiving, and Intercession... All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

GO IN GOD’S NAME

*Hymn - PH #429 “Lord, You Give the Great Commission”- verses 1,2,5 *Choral Benediction - “God Be With You Till We Meet Again” Ralph Vaughn Williams *Choral Response *Postlude

BabyManna is Philabundance’s annual campaign to raise funds to purchase

infant formula, baby food, kid-friendly foods, and other needed children’s

items.

Every year, Philabundance purchases large quantities of these items, thanks

to the unprecedented success of the BabyManna fundraising campaign. For

over a decade, more than 250 area churches, synagogues, and other

organizations have collected funds for BabyManna on Mother’s Day week-

end. Philabundance uses this support to help provide formula, food, and

other goods at deeply discounted rates to the almost 500 nonprofit agencies

that depend upon us to help feed children in need.

100% of the proceeds collected for BabyManna are used to purchase

and distribute formula, food, and products for babies and children.
