They are important skills that involve: Words- the foundation of effective

communication. Gestures- body language is an important part

of sending & receiving messages. Delivery- includes tone of voice, timing, &

pacing. Symbols- picture is often worth a thousand

words.

Listening Skills

Pay close attention- to a speaker and keep eye contact so the person knows that you are really listening.

Ask questions- this shows your are following what they are telling you.

Never interrupt Show you understand

Feedback

There are two kinds of feedback

Positive & Negative. Positive- Express your approval! Negative- Share your issues and work on the

problems.

Keep in mind that overly positive or overly negative responses usually hurt the

communication.

Good face to face communication can make a difference at home, at work and in social situations. Try to:
