IMPORTANT INFORMATION • Please visit pvschools.net/reopening for the Health

A Late Pick-Up Fee of $2 per minute will be assessed, starting 10 minutes after dismissal.

• Children must be potty-trained to participate. • There will not be a school nurse on staff during

summer school.• Children must follow all school district rules and

behavior expectations. Failure to comply may result in suspension or removal from class without a refund.

• Classes may be canceled due to low enrollment.

• All summer programs are peanut-free sites. All items in your child’s snack and lunch should be peanut-free.

• Choose classes based on grade assignment for the 2021/22 school year.

This is the perfect way to “make” things happen with code. Children will use a variety

of platforms to learn to code and expand their coding language. They will be challenged to build

and code a robot that can “move on Mars.”

S Children will investigate and explore different ways for space travel. They will use a variety of materials to design and create a

space travel machine that will safely carry an astronaut.

Children will learn about the design process in engineering. During the first week they will use the design process to explore aerodynamics,

futuristic planes, and cities, and then participate in structure building competitions. The second week children will design and create a futuristic

device that is capable of solving a simple task.

Course Descriptions Please enroll your student in the grade level they will enter for Fall 2021.

Amazing Fly Guy™ Adventures – Children will go on adventures with the amazing Fly Guy™ every day! From the circus to firetrucks - children will be laughing and reading through the summer weeks. Exciting activities will accompany every funny adventure to create the perfect environment for reading entertainment. Art Blast – Does your child have an eye for color? A knack for sketching? Children will explore, discover, create, and have fun learning about drawing and much more. Budding artists will use a variety of art mediums to create art masterpieces. This class will push your child’s art skills to the next level.

Busy Builders – Children will participate in a variety of challenges every week. They will access their fascination of LEGO® blocks to participate in challenges that require collaboration, problem solving, imagination, and creativity. Some of the challenges involve building with LEGO® blocks, paper models, and constructing bridges out of various materials.Crazy Collisions – What can your child learn from collisions and explosions? Hands-on science experiments allow children to bump, crash, and jolt a wide variety of materials. They will learn how explosive phenomena such as impact craters, the Big Bang, and plate tectonics reveal a wealth of scientific knowledge about our world. ELA Wonderland – This summer children will work on key concepts in English Language Arts that are grade appropriate. Children entering first grade will focus on blends, CVC, CCVC, CVCC words, and reading fluency. Children entering second grade will focus on silent “e”, CVC, CCVC, CVCC words, phonics, and fluency in reading. Children entering third grade will focus on decoding, comparing & contrasting, and learning literal and non literal phrases. Children entering fourth grade will focus on decoding multisyllabic words, using text features, identifying context cues, and using affixes to determine meaning. Children entering fifth and sixth grade will focus on cause and effect, drawing inferences, identifying textual evidence, and reading fluency. All classes will learn and apply these concepts through one-on-one, small group, and whole class projects. Extreme PE – Children will stay active focusing on teamwork while playing some well loved games and sports! Students should remember to wear comfortable clothes, sunscreen, gym shoes, and bring a water bottle with their name on it. For the Love of Mo Willems™ – Children will explore exciting Mo Willems™ books this summer. From pigeon stories to those about cats and elephants- children are sure to be laughing and reading on this adventure. Exhilarating activities will accompany every hilarious book to create the perfect environment for reading entertainment Full STEAM Ahead – Does your child love everything about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math? Children will be exposed to a variety of science based experiments covering topics such as magnetism, chemical reactions, minerals, weather, test tubes, polymers, explosions, and more!

Course Descriptions • Desert TrailsFur, Feathers, and Scales – Animal lovers will be engaged through reading, crafts, and hands-on investigations, while learning about an array of animals. Children will explore the realms of birds, amphibians, and reptiles while learning about their diet, habitat, prey, life span, and much more.Glitter Galore – Glitter, glitter, EVERYWHERE! Children will have a glitter-ific summer creating dazzling projects that may include tiaras, wings, wands, and much more. Your child will not want to miss this sparkling summer party!Growing Fast – Plants, veggies, flowers, dirt, compost, fertilizer… the perfect mixture to see things grow this summer. Children will learn about plants and gardening while making mini green houses, experimenting with light and water, and creating a terrarium. Kindergarten Jumpstart – This is a wonderful opportunity for your incoming kindergartner to prepare for the first day of school. Children will focus on blending sounds, CVC words, sight words, and early reading comprehension. Children will also focus on math skills including math facts, competency with counting, understanding addition and subtraction, and place value. All concepts will be paired with movement, hands-on activities, and enriching projects. Children must be potty-trained and turn 5 years old prior to June 1, 2021.Life on Mars – Scientists have predicted that one day, a space colony will be established on Mars. Children will take on the roles of astronauts preparing to build and live in a space colony on Mars. They will brainstorm ideas and research the Red Planet to design the best plan.Little Yogi's – Students will learn a variety of different yoga moves while having fun with friends. Yoga is one of the best life long activities students can learn. Learning the art of yoga will help increase patience, develop relaxation skills, build strength, balance, and flexibility all through the use of fun games and imagination.Magic School Bus™ Science – Ms. Frizzle says, “Take chances! Make mistakes! Get messy!” Students will learn how things work through hands-on experiences, books, and videos.

Math Madness – This summer children will strengthen their math skills while working on key concepts that are grade appropriate. Children entering first grade will focus on math facts, strategies for addition and subtraction, and competency of whole number relationships and place value. Children entering second grade will focus on math facts, developing competency strategies for addition and subtraction, and developing an understanding of standard units of measure. Children entering third grade will focus on math facts, increasing fluency of adding and subtracting to 1,000, competency in multiplication and division, and developing an understanding of fractions. Children entering fourth grade will focus on math facts, developing an understanding of fractions, place value of multi-digit numbers, and area. Children entering fifth and sixth grades will focus on math facts, decimals, adding and subtracting and multiplying fractions, and increasing competency in division. All classes will build fluency through hands-on math activities. Paper Isn’t Flat – Children will start with a piece of paper and then make it come to life. They will be curling, rolling, glueing, stringing, and so much more. Your future paper expert will learn how to make pop up cards, jewelry, and more all by manipulating paper. Pinned-spiration – Children will create cool and crafty DIY items all generated from Pinterest™ and other social media sites. They will create projects using different materials like paints, markers, dough, paste, etc. When summer is over, your child will have a catalogue of crafty ideas to share with family and friends.

Young scientists will create havoc as they experiment with science!Showstoppers – Does your child love to sing, act, and dance? Showstoppers is a class that focuses on a wide variety of broadway songs, scenes, and dances! Children will work on musical theatre dance styles, vocal technique, and a variety of acting skills.Sports Bonanza – Children will participate in a variety of individual and group sports activities while focusing on teamwork and cooperation. They will make new friends while staying active and learning new life skills. Students should wear comfortable clothes, gym shoes, and bring a water bottle with their name on it.Summertime Slime – Is your child crazy for SLIME? Summertime Slime is here! All summer long your child will compare the characteristics of simple physical and chemical changes while creating bouncy, squishy, glittery, glow-in-the-dark, and other types of slime. It’s SLIME TIME!!!UnicorNation – Unicorns… Unicorns… Unicorns! Children will read, create, craft, and explore this majestic and mythical creature. Children will be enamoured at the amazing projects that will all be designed around the fabulous unicorn.

Around the World – Would your child like to take a trip around the world this summer? They will travel around the world and read fun books, play exciting games, make amazing crafts, and get a passport stamped from each of the seven continents. This class is sure to get your child excited about a journey around the world where they will have fun and learn at the same time!Art Blast – Does your child have an eye for color? A knack for sketching? Children will explore, discover, create, and have fun learning about drawing and much more. Budding artists will use a variety of art mediums to create art masterpieces. This class will push your child’s art skills to the next level.

Calling All Marine Biologists – Children will probe the depths of the sea and explore a variety of life in the ocean. They will discover ocean habitats, build a coral reef model, and get swallowed up by a giant whale! Craft Masters – Our D-I-Y camp is for all artsy-craftsy children who love to express themselves with one-of-a-kind masterpieces and crafts. They will discover their crafty side and sharpen their creative skills as they design mementos to be treasured.Disney™ Encore – Children are challenged to learn their favorite Disney™ songs and enhance their musical abilities in both singing and dancing. They will be able to vote on songs from movies like: Hercules™, Pocahontas™, Mulan™, The Lion King™, Frozen™, and more!

Goopy, gooey, slick, smooth, textured, creamy, colored, the combinations are endless. Sports Bonanza – Children will participate in a variety of individual and group sports activities while focusing on teamwork and cooperation. They will make new friends while staying active and learning new life skills. Students should wear comfortable clothes, gym shoes, and bring a water bottle with their name on it.Space Adventures – Does your child dream of blasting off in a rocket to outer space or question the night sky? If the answer is yes then “Space Adventures” is perfect! Children will climb aboard a rocket bound for outer space. They will explore the solar system, space travel, watch videos, and learn what it’s like to be an astronaut. Whiz Kids – Children will explore the world of science through everyday objects, experiments, and encounters. This camp will emphasize the STEM education philosophies with a big bang of fun through physics, biology, chemistry, geology, astronomy, and zoology.Wiggles – Children will participate in indoor sports activities to get the wiggles out and be active. Amazing Art – Does your child have an eye for color? A knack for sketching? Children will explore, discover, create, and have fun learning about drawing and much more. Budding artists will use a variety of art mediums to create art masterpieces. This class will push your child’s art skills to the next level. Animal Antics – Caring for pets, making a bird feeder, learning about endangered species, and discovering the duties of a vet are some of the educational, creative, and fun activities in this unique class. Children will learn animal behavior facts, tricks, and tips on grooming, feeding, and becoming a responsible pet owner.

Best of DIY – DIY projects may include pallet plaques, prism lights, and wood signs. Children are encouraged to push their imagination and their skills to produce projects that they will be proud to display at home or give as gifts.ELA Wonderland – This summer children will work on key concepts in English Language Arts that are grade appropriate. Animal Lovers – Children who love animals are invited to join. Children will learn about animals through different art projects, science experiments, activities, and games related to a number of furry friends!Artzilla – Creativity wanted! In this class students will create a variety of Pinterest® inspired activities and let their imagination run wild! They will create a variety of DIY projects that may include string art, mason jars, picture frames, Sharpie® art, and much more. With a variety of tools and endless creativity, projects will come to life. Bubbling, Exploding, Fizzy Science – Explosions - check! This class is perfect for messy science activities. Children will learn about gas and expansion while exploding a lunch bag, blowing up balloons using chemical reactions, creating their own lava lamps, and much more.

Certified DIY Beauty – This class combines science, chemical engineering, and art for fun with hair and makeup. Children will make their own beauty products such as lip gloss, eye shadow, bath soaps, and more. Arts Smarts – Everyone knows what it means to be book smart, but there are so many other smarts that make us who we are! Children will delve into their art smarts and enjoy learning different styles of art while working with various mediums! Children will be encouraged to be creative, get messy, and make a masterpiece! Each child will have a chance to explore their artistic side and make several different art pieces to share with the world!

History Heroes – History fans unite! Travel through time to examine several historical events and battles that shaped our world as we know it! Children will recreate battles, create projects, and act out scenes from history! Children will learn about lesser known stories from history and immerse themselves in times and places from long ago!iGROW – Do you have a child who loves being active? Are they looking for activities and exercise that enables them to feel more confident, positive and strong? Then this summer fitness opportunity is the answer! This program promotes a healthy lifestyle via exercise, education, and team building activities. It is important to have a healthy lifestyle and this class touches on a variety of key elements including how to achieve a healthy mindset, positive thinking, win-win relationships, and build self-esteem. Imagination Studio – Children are encouraged to let their imagination run wild as they join forces with their creative side and their building skills! They will invent, tinker, design, and create passion projects from unique and recyclable materials. Children start with an idea and turn it into a masterpiece in the makerspace.Kindergarten Scholars – Calling all kindergartners! Children will explore enriched and challenging curriculum while learning about interest-based topics. Children will focus on blending sounds, CVC words, sight words, and early reading comprehension. Children will also focus on math skills including math facts, competency with counting, understanding addition and subtraction, and place value. Your learners will be ready for kindergarten and beyond after this exciting class! Children must be 5 years old and potty-trained by June 1, 2021. Kindergarten Scholars Can Go Farther – This class is an extension of the morning Kindergarten Scholars class. Young learners will have time to explore more hands-on science, social studies, art, music, and play to keep the fun going all day! Children must be 5 years old and potty-trained by June 1, 2021.

Course Descriptions • Gifted @ WildfireArt Innovators – Are you a fan of Art History? This is the class for you! Come learn about the greats of Art while exploring their techniques to create masterpieces! You will never look at art the same way when you have delved into the past and examined the great artistic talents of all time! Each student will create many pieces to admire for years to come! Brain Game Academy – Your child should come join the fun as we play games with partners, in small groups, and as a whole class. Some games will S T R E T C H their mind, and others will help them discover strategies to problem solve and outsmart opponents. There will be thrilling activities as the group strategizes through games. If your child likes games or wants to learn games such as Mastermind®, Blokus®, Set®, and Sequence®, they will love this class! Craftivity – Does your child see the potential for art projects everywhere? Do they thrive on making crafts and creating funky art and crazy crafts. Your child’s creativity will flourish as children express themselves while discovering their potential with each concoction. They will create a variety of creative projects and let their artistic juices flow! Energized ELA – This summer children will work on key concepts in English Language Arts that are grade appropriate for gifted children. Children entering first grade will focus on blends, CVC, CCVC, CVCC words, and reading fluency. Children entering second grade will focus on silent “e”, CVC, CCVC, CVCC words, phonics, and fluency in reading. Children entering third grade will focus on decoding, comparing & contrasting, and learning literal and non literal phrases. Children entering fourth grade will focus on decoding multisyllabic words, using text features, identifying context cues, and using affixes to determine meaning. Children entering fifth and sixth grade will focus on cause and effect, drawing inferences, identifying textual evidence, and reading fluency. All classes will learn and apply these concepts through one-on-one, small group, and whole class projects. Games Unplugged – Your child can challenge their brain through a variety of games and activities! Using cards, dice, puzzles and games, children will learn logic strategies and critical thinking skills. The "thinkers" in this class will enhance their strategic thinking skills, discrete math skills, and problem solving techniques.

Space Race – Calling all future NASA® astronauts! Your child can join the Space Race to explore space, planets, galaxies, astronomy, and the solar system! All of the exciting mysteries of space will come alive as they examine, research, question, and dive deep into astronomy!Sports Unleashed – Does your child love sports? Are they ready for extreme games, sports, and exercise? This advanced sports class will get their heart pumping through creative workouts for a variety of sports! Each child will stay active through games, fun drills, challenges, and music integration while staying fit.STEM Creationeers – Create, construct, and engineer! In this exciting class, your child will examine concepts like aerodynamics and speed while researching, experimenting, and building creations like ramps, wind cars, hovercrafts, airships, and rockets. Your child will get messy with STEM while designing, prototyping, and exploring the interesting world of STEM!STEMgineers – Is your child curious about how things operate? Children can jump into the world of engineering and design in this STEM class where they will design and construct a variety of projects and explore the principles of STEM. These junior engineers will be hands-on, building, exploring and testing, as they would in the design process.Under the Sea – Do the mysteries of the ocean mystify your child? They can become oceanographers as they delve into the world of the ocean, perform experiments, and create amazing projects!

Course Descriptions • Gifted @ WildfireMathlete Enthusiasts – This summer children will strengthen their math skills while working on key concepts that are grade appropriate for gifted children. Children entering first grade will focus on math facts, strategies for addition and subtraction, and competency of whole number relationships and place value. Children entering second grade will focus on math facts, developing competency strategies for addition and subtraction, and developing an understanding of standard units of measure. Children entering third grade will focus on math facts, increasing fluency of adding and subtracting to 1,000, competency in multiplication and division, and developing an understanding of fractions. Children entering fourth grade will focus on math facts, developing an understanding of fractions, place value of multi-digit numbers, and area. Children entering fifth and sixth grades will focus on math facts, decimals, adding and subtracting and multiplying fractions, and increasing competency in division. All classes will build fluency through hands-on math activities. PE Powerhouses – Is PE your child’s favorite special area class? Sports, games, strategy, and teamwork will all be explored while being active! If your child is ready for non-stop PE fun, then they should come and be a powerhouse! Children should wear comfortable clothes, gym shoes, and bring a water bottle with their name on it.Science and Art, Of Course – Explore, manipulate, and discover art and science together. Each art activity will have a science component such as painting with water and oil, painting with ice cubes, making silhouettes and baked drawings. Children will be amazed with the beauty of art, the fun of creation, and fascinating science.Science Sleuths – Is your child ready to learn the thrill and action of being a wild scientist? Children will become real live scientists as they explore safe and thrilling science experiments. They will predict, make hypothesis, record their observations and share their results. Science Sleuths will create science havoc and explore scientific mysteries as they experiment with science!

A Moment of Science – Your child will take a moment and find out how exciting science can be this summer! Your young scientist will explore new ideas, discover innovative ways of thinking, and use their critical thinking skills. Your child will use scientific processes, protocols, and tools that focus on a variety of core science skills and different areas of science including the Scientific Method, ecosystems, the Solar System, life sciences, chemical reactions, and more.English/Writing – In this English and writing course your child will develop complex writing skills and apply punctuation, grammar, and syntax skills. The class will focus on vocabulary, reading fluency, and focus on reading comprehension. Fitness Frenzy – In this fitness class your child will learn different ways to get up and move! This will introduce your child to fun fitness activities such as yoga, free weights, kickboxing, fitness games, and much more. Each class will focus on a different type of exercise and your child will learn a variety of heart healthy fitness techniques and activities. General Mathematics – In this concentrated mathematical curriculum, your child will review problem solving, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and an introduction to Algebra. All math concepts will be enhanced by engaging math games.

Kaleidoscope of Art – Calling all artists! In this class your child will get to explore different art forms such as drawing, painting, ceramics, illustration, and much more. Your child will learn to create art projects based on a variety of subjects, learn about different art forms through the ages, and learn how to use the fundamental elements of art. Art projects may include clay, pastels, weaving, and much more.Pinned-spiration – Creativity wanted! Your child will create a variety of Pinterest™ inspired, “do it yourself” projects that may include creating their own wall art, shirt designs, mason jars, picture frames, and much more! With a variety of tools and endless imagination, projects will come to life!STEM Innovation – Create, construct, and engineer!
